My Vertebra IIs are taking a pounding from all-weather, all-year riding (and crashing) and aren't all that waterproof at the best of times... So I'm looking for inexpensive, but decent, waterproof boots. My limit's £100 I think, which does limit the options a bit...
I can get a pair of Sidi Tepor Ways for £57 from TWO mag, but they don't seem too well protected to me after the Vertebras. They're serious contenders though. I'd sooner get a pair of Vertebra Tepors but beggars can't be choosers... There's a couple of Oxtar options at £80-£90. No boots in HG that caught my eye to be honest...

What flavour of Oxtars? And will they be less than that £57? :)

I picked up some real nice Dianese's in a sale last year. Try www.bikestop.co.uk They are warm, waterproof and REALLY comfortable

I like my SIDI Blackrain's for the wet stuff (not that I go out in it that often ) - they're good boots for the dosh ;)

Yep, I'm really impressed with Blackrains. Comfy and waterproof still after nearly a year.

the problem with blackrains is they split quite easily and let every drop of water in after that.
Sidi Blackrain for me too - comfy and waterproof ( and suprisingly for a pair of Sidi`s they dont squeak )
:D
I only got my Blackrain's a few months ago but they leak like buggery... :(

I've looked at the Black Rain Evos but they tip the scales at over £100... They do seem a better option than the Ways, mind.
Good link Red Ones, cheers!

There aren't any boots for a £100 or less that will remain waterproof for any appreciable time, trust me I know about this, if you want boots that will be waterproof for a reasonable life you need to spend money.
I like Daytonas, I have had a couple of pairs and they are excellent, I need a new pair now as they have just started to give me damp feet, but I'm not disappointed as I have owned them for five years, looking at them that way they're not dear.

Then I'd honestly take them back pronto and politely but firmly ask for a replacement.
.
Blackrains, abrasive as sandpaper and about as waterproof. Polished them all up and they still leak :(

Mmm. Daytonas are good boots, nearly got a pair when I got the Vertebras. I've only heard good things about the Tepor -version Sidis though, they're only meant to be water resistant rathe than 100% waterproof, but they still get good feedback. Hmm...
Heine Gericke do a great touring boot, I think they're called the Road King or something similar. They're warm and totally waterproof, I've had mine for two years and they're comfortable enough for me.
I suspect you're going to have to break the £100 budget if you want to get them, but not by too much.
My sidi blackrains have proved very comfy and waterproof up to now

HG's Supersport boot... though its about £130 goretex etc.. mine havent leaked yet!
Though they are, 'short' for a sports boot.. not as tall as some...
Sidi Blackrains have my vote too, had them for about a year and have ridden in all weathers with dry feet.

1. silcone liquid sorts out the sidi squeaks.
2. i have sidi vertigo corsas & i wear them in all weather & find them most water proof & cosy  tho a little pricy :(

My Vertebras leak like ophic's black rains... Not bothered by the squeaks, it's just the rate at which they're dissolving. They're great boots and I want to still have them for proper riding, and not kill them commuting. I'm sure I could get them just about waterproof again but a second pair makes more sense I think.
My frank thomas aqua pro strike boot cost just over £100, totally waterproof through 2 winters and very comfotable.. great to walk in etc..

Northy, I got the TCS Oxtars for £95 from Ride-On (discounted from £110 cause I was doing my DAS there), and they're crap! There is a gortex version but that's another £40-50!
They started leaking after about 6 months at the left foot gear change pad! Now after a year and a half both feet leak bigtime! Also, the velcro has now come off on the right side.
I'm going to have to either invest in a new pair or get some waterproofing spray and gortex socks this winter. My advice would be avoid these.
I'd get blackrains if I could turn back the clock.
