The 850 is well under-powered, go for the 1150 if you can find one.

Its the price... trying to find a cheap one is rather hard.. I have seen one but it had done 77k and was over 200 miles away.

I agree with JB, but its a good bike to be honest. One of the blokes has got one, its done silly ammounts of miles, never ever let him down, and hes a bit economical with servicing etc. Its a plodder. Good enough for plodding up and down the motorway for sure.

The old R80 airhead was the bike of choice for many riders. I'd guess the R850 oilhead, with its added poke, is also a very good bike. I think we've all become just a bit too fixated with big-engined bikes.

Very very good, unexciting perhaps but does exactly what it says on the tin, and is surprisingly capable, pleasant ride.

I think you can get a discount if you show your pension book

Cheers Mark.

Sorry Grinch it would not appeal to me,not asying they are bad...just not for me. In fact the only BMW I could be tempted in to owning is this beauty below. Not too quirky looking, great motor, change the end can and they sound ace plus a guy over here as it on it's ear in every bend, superb!

the looks are too sporty for my liking.. if I had the cash then probably a rockstar would be a better choice.

Now they are lovely. Very comfortable as well. It's one of the few BMWs I'm interested in test riding.
