Well i finally found a deal on a sports 600 i could live with and bought myself a new bike:)

all i can say is WOW! i love riding it, its just incredible. i know its nothing like as fast as some bikes but i just dont see how anyone could want more for the road!

Its a 2004 daytona 600, the only mod being the blueflame end can. I ended up paying £3700 which i think was a great deal. It has a small amount of cosmetic damage on the fairing at the bottom, but not the sort that can be easily noticed really.

If i look like ive got a red face in the pic its cos ive been wearing a mates lid for an hour and its tiny! also i was pretty nervous riding again for the first time since my off.

anyway, i love the look of the bike and i love the way it handles. far, far more than enough power for the road and the end can sounds incredible! one of the loudest ive heard in a while.

hope u like it! ill be down soho sometime soon so i hope ill see u all there.

funnily enough telling my dad it has 50cc's less made him think i was making a sensible buy. could he have been more wrong? lol.

thanks for the responses :) god i love the feeling of a new bike.

You know I have to admit right here and now that I absolutely hate yellow as a colour for any motor vehicle!

However I am willing to also acknowledge that the Triumph and the Ducati do not at all look too shabby in it!

That bike is lovely mate and what you might lose out on a few bhp or mph you gain in many other ways. Well done for not just following the crowds! 8)

Lovely and in the best looking daytona colour. Looks like a faired yellow pointy SV on steroids :D or acid...

That's a great deal on a triumph! Maybe down to the new 650 that came out? Hope she's everything you've been after!

you should try and get a union jack sticker made up for the front like the 2005 ones that would finish it off a treat

ur right, i think because all the magazines say that the new 650 is worth the extra money people arnt so willing to buy used daytonas. this might have been true if the difference was 1k or so, but as its now £2500 cheaper for 50cc's less i think they might change their minds.

and dont start me on the leathers!!! i was gonna get 1 piece black leathers but ill leave it for now, they dont look as bad as i thought they might.

im not a big fan of the jack fronts for the daytonas. It just reminds me of football idiots with it all over their body. its ashame our flag has been ruined so, but its what i think when i see it.
I dont think its a sticker either, it costs £250 and is painted onto the nose cone.

The guy i bought the bike off said he read an interview with one of the designers of the bike. He said that they had designed the daytona to look atractive for its shape and angles rather than the paint scheme.

That could be total rubish of course, but it makes sense to me. The Jap 600's look quite samey except for their end cans and painted colours.

<drool>, gorgeous that is!!

defo thinking about that as my next bike, along with an A1 zx6-r! £3,700 seems like a great deal, I guess they will be cheaper cause of the 650.

what's it like compared to the SV comfort wise? I'd like the 650 but could only probably afford the 600 (in Silver of course!!) so what's the power like? does it have a decent midrange for about town? is the handling a massive leap up? I've heard Northwind say it feels a bit flimsy? What do you think next to the SV (not exactly the most well built bike is it? Also, what year is it? Has the finish survied well (I'm thinking forks, bolts, brakes etc). sorry for all the questions, looks absolutly crackin'!

you've not been riding very long am I right? is it not a bit scary?? take care on it by the way.

definately name it after your fav porn star as was suggested earlier - I'd call her Jenna!

lol, ill wait before i say what the bikes like comfort wise as ive only done about 20 miles on it! needs a new front tyre. Btw, tyres are alot more expensive than the sv!

i dont even wanna judge the handling etc yet for the same reason, but here r my first impressions ont he differences.

1, i nearly dropped it when pulling away as i lifted my foot up when i thought the bike was gonna move. i didnt realise i hadnt given it nearly enough revs, the bike didnt move forward at all! i quickly put my foot back down.

2, its smooth but not as smooth as i thought it would be coming from what people say about IL4's. i have read that the jap bikes r smoother though, the daytona sounding a bit more meaty and vibey than the japs.

3, the bike feels like its ready to turn at the slightest movement, indeed when i move my body at all it has a far bigger efect on the bike than the SV. this will take some time to get used to.

4, the power is delivered in a very different way. I dont believe it has much less power mid range than the Sv, and the top end is just insane! infact i didnt even come close to opening it up, which i did reguarly on the SV. i dont think i got above 4th on the motorway, and in 3rd i was doing 70 at around 5k revs i think. i went over the ton at one point and my hand was less than half way round the throttle!

5, i started to get a small amount of wrist ache whenon the m25, but no more than i got on the faired SV. longer distances required to judge the comforat level.

Overall i think the biggest difference is the handling. thats what im gonna try and get used to first. i dont wanna be pushing it at all until i feel comfotable on it.

ill post a proper update on the bike when ive had more time to ride it. so far so good though, i just love the sensation of the engine.
