for the past 4 years I have ridden a motorbike every single day without fail but Ive not ridden one now for 6 weeks and honestly I have absolutely no desire to....why?

I had a go today ( first time in 6 weeks ) I went 5 minutes down the road turned back and put it back in the garage, shaking my head in disbelief that it did absolutely nothing for me.

I dont want to ride it, im not scared, I havent had an off I just feel no desire to ride at all. 5 of my biker mates rung and said do I want to go to the coast?....nah im ok you lot go on your own lads.

So has the bug gone??? I really dont want to ride.

Don't then. It's not compulsory.

I used to ride all the time, but over the years I've got so I only go out when I feel like it. That's what the bikes are for (for me), enjoyment. :riding:

Perhaps you've just answered your own question.

If i was a gynecologist i'd know how i'd feel after a long day at work! Imagine what its like after 4 years!

I ride mine every day and do at least 350 miles a week. I don't feel the same as i used to about biking but do enjoy the odd weekend ride here and there. I have recently developed the taste of freedom on it now and can regularly been seen with a tent and some bags strapped to the back.

If you dont feel it you dont need it mate! Sell the bike and move on to some other interest. At least you have it on your c.v. 8)

I'll echo that one. Sole form of transport for several years was my bikes and I got a little bored of them. Now I use a car most of the time (need to for work) I find weekend blasts on the bike are a good pressure release and fun activity again. I can however go for a month or more without feeling the need for my fix but I know it's there if I want it.

Some people change their preferences and move away from it - it happens. Guy here at work had a Daytona then an SP-1, RoSPA gold award, commuted on it 100 miles every day. One day last year decided he'd had enough and sold everything.

Had the same thing for the last couple of months

Lost interest alot but as bike is soul transport I still use for commuting...

Had first fun ride for ages at the weekend out on my own tho so maybe its coming back...

The ROSPA Gold is incredibly difficult to get, so that really surprises me.

yeah, having to paper your hallway through the letter box is no fun at all.

I guess you really wanted to be a brain surgeon but your arms weren't long enough.

Have to agree, since I've been commuting (70 mile round trip) I'm not particularly bothered about going out again in the evenings.
Having said that I'm going to Ireland on it at the end of the month and really looking forwards to that........................................pint of Guiness :D

I know exactly where you are coming from. Like you i rode every day, rain or shine. Covered 38000 miles without a single worry. I had my few share of offs. Last september i had a spill on some disel, and decided that it was off to the train for me which i did for 6 months. I tried to get back on the bike, but had no desire, the fire had gone. However, due to money becoming a little tight, i decided to get back on the bike. That along with a few trips away on it, i have slowly got the enjoyment back. Its no where near as intense as it was, but not finding it a chore. So all i say is have a step away, then use it weekends etc. Meet up with some mates, go for a play. It will return, just think that the honeymoon period is over! Maybe a new bike is what is needed? Thats my theory!

Yeah I go along with probably a change of bike being needed rather than losing the enthusiasm for riding....

Unfortunatly not in a position to do that for a year.... :?
