thought you lot might be interested to know what happens when you ride an sv650 into the back of a gsxr1000 at 70mph...

Those beautiful bikes!
Glad you two are relatively ok though!
Yikes! That can't have been fun. Still at least you both are more or less alright (good luck with your spine) and there'll no aggro from the insurance company as it was obviously a simple error but hope the SV was FC.
Good luck to you both anyway ;).

yep, both FC and both written off, the gixer's got a massive crack at the back of the engine where all the oil spewed out, frame's bent too. Worst thing is, even if they give me another bike tomorrow I can't ride it for 2 months :(

r u two still friends?
She's my wife! I don't really blame her but she could have picked a better place to have a lapse in concentration. I think she was expecting me to have a real go at her but I haven't, I'm just glad we're relatively OK, bikes can be replaced (and hopefully will be with nice new shiny ones...) but people can't be once they're gone.

I think you were both very lucky. Good luck with the recovery. There have been plenty of times when I have nearly done exactly the same. It is easily done.

fark!
Too easily done, though.
I think if my wife did that to me I wouldn't so much get angry as make sure that they made it up to me, well, once my bike was better, anyway

bloody hell matey thats some bad luck! hope you both get well soon.
Awful luck, but then quite a bit of luck considering the state of your backwheel now.
I'm not baiting so please don't take this badly, i'm writing this just out of coincedence. One of the first things jonboy said to me just after i got my SV and went for a ride with him was always follow another bike staggard, and after following him last night i know exactly how easy it is to fall into the leadings persons groove. I'll make an extra concious effort now.

it should be working again now, windows decided to do an automatic update and reboot itself, changing the ip address in the process - that's why it disappeared for a short while.
Thanks for all the support - I'm just about to ring the insurance company and find out where we're at and what they're going to pay for...

update:
Michelle's bike (SV650) is definitely written off, assessor went and had a look this morning. Mines getting assessed tomorrow, although we're pretty sure that's written off too. That's the simple bit of the claim sorted out, the claim for my injuries will be fairly lengthy as they can't pay out until I've recovered fully which will be a minimum of 3 months. Then an indenpent orthopedic consultant will check me over and have a look at my medical records and give an opinion as to how I'm likely to be affected in the future. Then they try and put a monetary amount on it and write me a cheque - I'd be surprised if I see any of it before xmas and I've no idea how much it'll be for and I'm pretty sure you can't buy veterbrae in the shops just yet...

ok I know I shouldn't (I nearly did this to my dad not a month ago) but I did giggle when I realised your wife had rammed you up the a**e with her bike.
As this forum is U rated I'm saying nothing more, except maybe the word "retribution"
I'll giggle myself off to me coat
glad all is "relatively" well though
just play the quite potent sympathy card you now have for a few months.
black framed SV as well... hope you two have a speedy recovery.
Sorry to hear about and see the results of your Crash,
Glad your walking and breathing and Michelle's is in one piece.
Bad news about your bikes thou.
Get on the mend soon.

Get well soon, hope the recovery is not too hassly and that you're back on the (new) bike sooner rather than later... we need all the riders we can get in North Yorkshire!
