View Full Version : MPG
Just wondered what everyone gets on their SV?
I've only recently bought a 2000 curvy and I got about 42mpg on the first tank. To be honest I was expecting a few more miles than that, bloke I bought it off said he got about 150mile before the petrol light started to flash while it came on for me at about 120mile.
Cheers
Jason
I'm getting around 150/60 to a tank but I guess it all depends on how hard you flog it. :D
Didn't think I rode particularly hard. I did have a CBR400 before, so thought perhaps I was used to revving it a little too much?

oops, I get between 100 and 120
I seem to consistantly get 167/169 before the light starts to flash
Looks like I'm in the same boat as you Oxford. Slight difference though compared to getting 160 to the tank!!
110 - 150 depending on how I ride

I'm getting about 60 mpg when I ride it but if Dave gets on it well that's a different story.

I get on average 55 to 60, reasonably progressive riding. Do not thrash it through the gears.

Wow! that's pretty impressive! :!:
I get 120-130 before the light comes on, that's commuting through central london 40 miles a day. :riding:

On my curvy i regularly got 54 Mpg, on my pointy I have been getting 60!
What's the capacity of a curvy tank? I want to work out my mpg too! :D
38 mpg :? , all commuting through London.

dunno, but would be interesting to work it out
16 litres I believe
durrr, how many gallons is that
Ok....
How many litres to a gallon?
16 Litres = 3.5 Gallons
I have the pointy and I think it's 18 Litres (4 Gallons) I get about 100 miles (ish) in my daily commute in central London (10 miles both ways) and around 140 miles motorways/ A roads.

I used to get 170 out of the full tank on my 2000 SV. Thats about 50mpg.
I currently get about 145 out of my gixxer (17lt tank) because i ride like a loon!
Easiest way to calculate MPG is as follows, assuming you reset the trip meter every time you fill up.
Take note of the mileage and number of litres you fill the tank up with. Divide the mileage by the number of litres you filled up (this assumes that when you did that many miles you used so much petrol, but fairly accurate). Then you multiply that amount by 4.54.
So for me I did 122 miles and filled up with 13.16 Litres
122/13.16 = 9.27 (miles per litre)
9.27 x 4.54 = 42 miles per gallon
Hope that helps
