What's the fine / penalty (points) for not displaying L-plates on whilst on a cbt?

Also, what's the fine / penatly for not having a cbt at all?

I need to set someone (or rather, an idiot) straight.

Thanks in advance...

slap on the wrist I would imagine....

but more likely points on a licence you don't have and a ban when you don't have licence in the first place

I know someone who got 3 points because his L-plates had "come off"

WOuldn't riding without a proper licence be a criminal offence and therefore hefty fine and may be even jail?

no scumbag joyriders never get sent to jail even after 100d's of repeat offences

If someone is riding without L plates/CBT (and, for the pedants among you, they also lack a full licence), there's also the issue of them riding without insurance...

nope, if your gonna be riding a 50cc without a CBT, then you might as well be riding an R1 with no licence, same points and fine.

which is probably something stupid like 50 quid.

here's a story for ya, BOTH my L-plates fell off as i was riding to my driving test, the examiner noticed and said - "you had better pass or you will be needing to get yourself some L-plates"

i passed :)

I fitted the front l=plate to the Horrible Yam then broke it off immediately so I could say "Must have fallen off officer". Left the rear one on though, it didn't look so daft.

When I took my daughter for her CBT, the instructor was an old friend of mine so whilst chatting before the CBT a lad turned up for his on his own scooter. The instructor asked him how long his existing cbt had left.

Not got one.
How did you get that here?. Rode it
where are your L Plates?. Not got any.

Whats your insurance details?. Not got any until I pass my test

As you can imagine, they refused to allow him to do his CBT on his scooter. and suprisingly delivered him/scooter home in a van afterward with a word to his parents who did not know he had bought his mates scooter.

My front one fell off on the way to the test centre too (honest)! The bloke behind me spotted it and I wedged it down my jacket. At the test centre I spoke to the examiner about it and he produced some gaffer tape from his desk. You know someones a proper biker when they keep a reel of the silver stuff at work
