Guys,
Possibly the weirdest post I will ever write but I want to mention it so that I can get some feedback from anyone else?
I have only been riding for a month or so now but have to be honest and say I am making the most of it. Have done nearly 1500 miles already on my SV and that is just riding around locally (with the odd 90 mile trip to Leicester and the BSB at Silverstone) and am lurrrvvving every minute of it.
However now, the outside of my thigh on my right leg is partially numb to the point where I can pinch myself pretty damn hard without feeling a thing. And also my left leg feels a little de-sensitied. Could this be from riding a lot and not being used to it or something else? I don't expect any of you (unless you are doctors and could give me some med reason) to be able to explain why this is occuring but would be interested to see if anyone else has had similar problems when the started riding?
Thanks
Andy
I have "other" bits that go numb after 30 mins...then they seem to recover and all is well
What are you wearing? allways the same pants?
it could be as simple as a seam pressing in and cutting off the supply, my summer gloves have a seam on the palm of my right hand and if I don't move my hand during a ride my fingers are dead for ages.

When I started riding, I used to feel dizzy when I got OFF the bike and I fealt that my head wobbled around off the bike too as if it was still being buffeted by the wind
I know both these things sound really stupid, but both feelings eventually stopped.
Go on then, you van all take the **** if you like
Pop along to your GP and see what he says would be my advice. I often wear a pair of the airline socks (to alleviate possible DVT problems as I do suffer with my legs), which make a helluva difference and ensure proper blood supply - might be worth trying.
.
The SV is a naturally a 'vibey' bike, all that lurvely thumpy twin power.
Also, check if your tyres are balanced properly. My front tyre was done by my mate a few weeks ago, not got round to getting it balanced yet. The vibes up to the bars get my fingers tingleing pretty quickly if i sit about 80-90ish too long. Results in loss of circulation and I get cold hands with no feel, not good! To a lesser extent I can feel this from the tank too.
im a medical student and ther eare one or two things i can think of.
I am not a qualified or licensed medical professional yet so the information i write here is not to be taken to be correct or as any kind of diagnosis what so ever. any action you choose to take as a result of reading this you do so under your own free will and with no liability to myself or any medical or professional organisation. This information is intended for non-diagnostic reasons only and is not to be acted on.
(sorry, disclaimer(just in case))
firstly like you said, it may be due to you not being used to the ride position of a motorbike. there are various strains put on muscles in the leg while riding a bike and as you are in the same possition for a long time with no movement muscles can undergo a form of cramp which results in slight swelling a temporary loss of feeling in the limb.
another possibility is obviously DVT (deep vein thrombosis) not nice but remidied with good stretching before and after a ride and if possible during by stretching your leg out of the side of your bike while riding - not that safe but we all do it.
Loss of circulation is another possibility (as previously mentioned) if your trousers are too tight
hope this helps a bit

I too suffer with circulation problems, I have some sort of blood disorder that makes my blood thick, so I have to be careful when riding.
Firstly, as already mentioned, do some streching before and after the ride.
Secondly, move around while riding. I often slide my backside from side to side on quite mundane corners, just so it gives me an opportunity to move about. On motorways I lift my backside out of the seat and go up and down a few times, again just to get the blood flowing.
Also, make sure your clothing is not too tight, Eveb though I'm a fat git I still try and wear my clothing as loose as you can on a bike.
Try riding for 30 mins, take 5 mins, ride for another 30 mins and then gradually expand the riding periods. I can quite easily do 3 hours without a problem (except the tank is pretty near empty!).
Hope that helps.
