As usual i was out having a ride earlier with my r6 buddie only this time he'd updated his insurance so we were both 3rd party on any bike. Blast around for 50 miles or so then he offers to swap for the next 20.
Wow.
Coming off my LOUD sv this was so refined, so smooth and so fast without putting effort in it scared me at first. The power delivery made me think of scaletrix for some reason, it just went from low down (remember 4k is low down on a r6) and pulled and pulled and pulled, by 10k it was ripping your head off. The biggest difference with the power i found was 100mph+ when the sheer grunt it had to push on made the SV feel like a er500. The fastest i've managed on my SV was about 125 and that was a struggle. With in 10 miles i hit 135 without trying or without feeling like i was being silly and it easily had another 30mph in it.
Other bits - You could tell the weight was far more forward as once it was turning it fell so fast and felt solid, yet when it was over it wasn't as flickable as the sv changing direction (the big rear tyre that had seen one too many motorway miles probably didn't help).
Overall it was a fantastic experience and the power up top of it impressed me the most. However, i am glad i've got the SV rather than that as i feel you can have more fun on the SV without getting into the 'instant ban' zone (the r6 was good for 95 or so in SECOND leaving you very little room to play.) I dare not thing how fast an r1 would be.
On another point, i got my toe down for the first time!
