Hi, most will say they are well worth it. I have the Suzuki ones and they have been very handy when I dropped the bike few weeks ago, at a stand still :oops:

It is not too difficult to do, although I didnt do mine either. If you can find someone near you to help/do it for you else go to your dealership. Metropolis on the Albert Embankment are very helpful, bought my bike from them. Dunno how far it is for you though.

what part of se london are you in? I can name several places that will do it for you I can also name places you 'd be better off not using but I wont do this publically ok?

I'm not mechanically minded at all, and this was the first ever job I did on mine. If you don't have full fairings then there is no drilling involved, it's surprisingly easy and I'd encourage you to have a go; it certainly started building up my mechanical confidence, which is useful as a bike owner seeing how many bits you should be checking occasionally yourself.

Tools
Two socket wrenches, or one socket and a torque wrench
Two sockets, 17mm to remove existing bolt, whatever necessary size to do new bolt if different (I used R&G's crash bungs, work really well, needs 3/4" sockets to tighten)

Method
Put one socket on each side, hold one side steady and spin the other anti-clockwise to loosen
Repeat on other side.
Undo one of the nuts completely
Pull out engine bolt
(From this point a good bung set will have instructions)
Put one nut on crash bung bolt and hand tighten, leaving off plastic crash part
Put new bolt through engine
Hand tighten other nut
Put socket wrenches back on both nuts
Tighten clockwise
Screw in plastic crash parts
Hey presto - it really is this simple. Good luck!

Don't get the Suzuki ones since you have full lowers on. I specified R&G for my bike since they have a good rep and I'd read that the Suzi ones are meant to be useless on fairings - one drop and they're smashed.

I picked up my bike (SK5) from having it's service done and lowers & bungs fitted only to notice that they were the wrong ones when I got home. A call to the dealer revealed that it was a simple ****-up and they will be changed for the R&Gs.

Looking at the Suzi bungs fitted, I'm quite alarmed at the design. The plastic "slider" bolts to a curved steel rod which fastens to a frame bolt. Upon impact, it would bend acting as a lever and pull the fairing in with it, smashing the plastics. EXPENSIVE!!

R&G bungs fit using a solid aluminium machined mounting block/spacer that bridges 2 mounting points. The plastic reel then mounts to the centre of this, spreading the load centrally and without deflection. Should be much more effective.

Not so, I have a K3 with OE lower fairings and OE bungs, looks like this http://www.suzuki-gb.co.uk/partdetail.asp?id=240&m=24. To my shame I have dropped the bike 3 times since I got it a month back, all under 5mph, once to the left and twice to the right. Only damage has been broken indicator lens(which is fair enough) and some small scratches on bar ends, exhaust and lower fairing. No smashing involved, and saved me a fortune.

ive got the motorax DHM's for £40 on my k3 and fitted them myself, ive herd people on here say they arnt much cop but i aint dropped it yet to find out.

R+G's are well worth the £70

dropped mine on the left. lhs murror popped out- no other damage!!

got rear ended, dropped to the right, rhs fairing cracked but thats it!

ok so R&GS are sound tops so far,....as i do have full fairing... and in in rotherhite (london bridge)

I'll vouch for the R&Gs too! I had Suzuki ones to start with on my 1000S and the bracket snapped when the bike once fell over when the g/f left it parked with the engine still running ready for me to get on. You can't even by the bracket without the whole fairing so luckily I was able to get it welded before I bought R&G ones for the 1000 too as well as my 650.
