View Full Version : My new bit on the swingarm
R&G Aluminium Toe Guard
Got it from ebay cheep. If incase you come off it stops your toes getting trapped in the sprocket. Its bolted to the underside of the swing arm, had to drill two 5mm holes then tap it with a 6mm bit then bolt it on.

PS. Yes i know the bike is realy dirty.

do you live on a farm?
Does this mean you'll need a hook and bobbins kit for your paddock stand?
Surely that gets in the way? The scottoiler is awkward enough (same setup as mine).

Quite a few racers have, but not many street riders. Who cares, it looks good! Also, it's ideal for doing a tidy-up of that Scottoiler piping- bolt the bracket onto the swingarm bobbin thing, and then run the piping down the inside of the arm. Nice...
The only thing is, I didn't fancy drilling the holes in the swingarm- you've basically created yourself two expansion stress points pretty much exactly where you don't want them. Probably it'll be fine but that put me off hte idea a little, so I just glued mine on with some serious 2-part epoxy I had lying about.
do you live on a farm?
naa its just london, have not cleaned it since mid Aug though.

It's also known as a 'Shark Fin' and is mandatory for pretty much all motorcycle racing championships.
A lot of Superbikes are now coming with them either fitted or with mounting points for them already there... My Triumph T595 has one as standard. :D
And yes - they do look cool (if fitted well! I've seen a few abominations!! ).
Sorry but how can you consider that something like that looks cool?

It looks cool if you know what it is, basically. Bit of racer chic for the street bikes. Realyl needs to be seen in the context of a whole biek shot, but I reckon they look good on the SV.
