Hey,

So it's obvious that an air filter is a common modification to the SV. My question is what does it do? Horsepower increase? Does it actually work, I've read where an airfilter has hindered a bikes performance? What brand is better, K&N or BMC? Thank you for all your help in advance,

Mitch

Hey Mitch,

I de snorkeled my K3 and fitted a K and N filter although I do believe that the BMC is a good alternative. With my CCC end can fitted the bike just seemed so much better. Just to get some lovely over run sounds also when changing down. I dont think that the extra air actually requires any other tweeks but maybe some of the other guys might be able to offer a little more. 8)

More air needs more fuel. The stock EFI unit will need re-programming so that you are getting the correct AF ratio and thereby optimising your power & reliability.

I fitted a K&N on mine & it worked well (without any tinkering...) A remap would be worthwhile though (just to watch the BHP level rise a little ;))

You got to be careful when just adding air, as PeterM said, more air will need more fuel. You don't get owt for nowt!

The last thing you want is an engine that runs lean!
