Is this Goodbye? GSXR v SV

I am very close to buying a GSXR 600 K1 :?

Why should I buy it :?:

Why should I stick with the SV :?:

I use the SV everyday for work (20 mile round trip)

Help should I take the plunge or stick to a v-twin

gsxr is a great bike! but i do prefere the v twin.

For me it was down to £1500 compared to £500 a year for the insurance plus of course £1500 price difference on a new bike - total difference £2500 so the SV won it.

If the truth be told the SV is for my daily use the quicker bike with more power on tap at the rev's I use - I rarely exceed 7 or 8krpm.

Of course once I have built my NCB then I may well get a GSXR purely for the image.

Depends what you want from a bike and what you can afford. For commuting every day the SV has the engine characteristics you need plus you are more at risk of having an accident than a Sunday morning riding so insurance costs and less in the way of expensive fairings to smash is an issue.

Most members of the public would say get the gixxer though.

I used to have a K1 GSXR 6 and thought it was an excellent bike. It will cope just as well with the daily use and mileage. I found mine felt slightly breathless when filtering through traffic ect. But more than made up for it once it got some revs. Like other people have said it will be quite an increase in insurance tho.

Isurance is £415 f/c with busieness (spelling :? ) use.

As for fairings my sv is fullly faired with twin hi-level renegades, so worrying about dropping the Gixxer is not really a worry, cost wise.

Any idea wear I can get a pillion seat for it if I buy the gixxer :?:

The best and cheapest source for a pillion seat would be ebay.
I think you would get one for £10 - £20.

Modern 600 vs SV? SV is slow, feels fast.

Well it is in fact very fast, but not like modern 600. A real classic. Same reason one can enjoy an RD 350 when it is running OK. Feels fast more than is fast. More balanced design for road work. Plus is real pretty with great manners.

On the RD 350 sites, people say goodbye and announce moving to SVs. Ok, some get R6s and zx636s but a lot get SVs. Same for EX250 site. Both are also classics.

Want fast? Buy 2006 r6. Hope you do not lose license, and that you make it in one piece and avoid actual jail time.

I would go to jail in one weekend on a GSXR1300. Imagine explaining to judge why it was OK to cruise at 80 in a 30 zone because the machine is begging to do 100 in the 30.

There's a difference btwn quick and fast. An sv is quick, very quick, but not 'fast'. SV vs IL4 = SV first off from lights then 50 metres on and IL4 shoots past...

This debate never seems to die....

The GSXR is a better equipped and a faster machine than the SV. The SV has that V-twin low down grunt, but a modern GSXR is fine over 5k. Don't believe the hype about lack of mid range... You just have to remember that the "mid range" is 5-10k on a bike like the GSXR.

Different tools for different jobs, the SV is an ace bike for the money, but they both only go as fast as your right hand lets them.

I was go menthion that the CBR600F may be a better bike for you as that was the way you were leaning, but didn't want to start another "Honda Vs Suzuki" war.....

Good choice, most popular sportsbike in the world. Everyday practicality with real sports bike attraction.... They are a very nice machine. I'm sure Bikage boy will be along in a moment and agree...

Mmmmmmm......cbr600f did you test ride it first? I'm torn between this and the gsxr....Probably go for the CBr IF I CAN AFFORD IT! What were your impressions on the road?
