Has anyone any experience of these? saw the alloy crash bungs at the NEC and i was impressed with how they matched the bike however im a bit sceptical about their ability to protect in a slide. Anyone used them?[/i]

I've not used them, but alloy crash bungs pretty much defeat the purpose of a bung. Nylon (or similiar) abrade easily in a slide to slow the bike, and are softer to absorb the hit. What metal ones would do, is ensure that the entire force of the first impact are transmitted directly to the frame. Then, once you're down, they'll slide more easily than a Nylon one, and if youhit something solid- a kerb say- then again they'll trnsfer the whole impact straight to the frame.

I'd walk away and not look back if I were you :)

Powerbronze are a bit hit and miss when it comes to the quality of their goods. My hornets bellypan fell to bits. But they do make good fender extenders :lol:

I'd eprsonally, give them a miss, you're saving what, a fiver with them? What will it cost you when you bin the bike and they snap straight away where the r&g's may only bend?

It wasnt the cash saving i was really thinking about, it was the cosmetic difference of a nice shiny alloy bung as opposed to a nylon equivalent. However, the most important thing is to protect the bike from as much damage as possible in the event of a spill so ill get the R&Gs

There is never an offer on R&G bungs :(

true but don't get them direct from r+g as you have to pay postage, you are better off with hein gericke
