You can get another rectifier from many other bikes.

I read that as long as its a 5 wire version not a honda special with 6 wires then it should work fine on the SV. You will have to check about that though, i am not 100% sure.

I've not fitted a different one, found a replacment from 21Quest when mine went, but Sid Squid talks about it here...
