It should be. Try taxing it online before you bother, though.

I tried taxing it online but I kept getting an error on the document number, not sure if it was because I only had the little slip from the log book.
If I tax it on line and get a pull before the new disc arrives can I be fined?

Yes. The offence is for failure to display a current licence, not not having one!
In reality you are likely to be givena producer and therefore 7 days to produce a valid tax disc. The new one should have arrived by then (mine took 2 days)

Some people do have problems taxing online.
Technically you can get problems for not displaying, but I haven't had a legible disc on mine for well over a year and not even had somebody mention it and I haven't had a disc on at all for 3 months and still no mention.
These days it takes a few seconds for them to check, so unless you've done something to deserve some nit-picking or you're parked in a place that has annoyed a copper, then you'll be fine.

My Post Office didn't accept the print-off (even in colour) - I had to wait for the original document

He's not talking about riding without tax, he's talking about riding without a tax disc. They're two rather different scenarios. Your bike is now taxed, I trust.

don't you get an unoffical period of 14 days grace to renew anyway? that always used to be the case as far as i recall.
and squirrell, it sounds to me like Guy had over looked the tax disc renewal as opposed trying to get away with anything. glad the copper sould see common sense and give him a chance to renew it instead of clogging up the system with unneccessary paper work.
My post office wouldn't accept the printed version either, apparently has to be printed on eBike's printer not mine??? Had to wait for insurance document, but that only took 2 days.
I had trouble trying to tax it with the printed cover note, after i got home i cut the bit off the bottom that said the name of the website or something, went back & hey presto came away with the tax disc.

How on earth does a Post Office counter assistant decide which printer the note was printed on

Just thought I would point out there is no such thing as the 14 days grace.
Its been advertised I think now for two years since SORN was brought in anyway, that you can tax it early, up to two weeks before it is due, but you cannot tax it late, thats what SORN is for.
So if you think you can leave it till later to sort out the tax, forget it!
My son thought there was no rush and after 10 days got his tax.
Thre weeks later a letter from the DVLA arrived with a fine enclosed for none payment of Vehicle Tax for just 10 days.
Cost him £25 and if not paid within 7 days it would go up to £50.
Moral is Tax it or SORN it but do it on time or early.
All I can do is warn you

Foey, how does the sarky comment answer my question?
Are you saying that this particular counter assistant will only accept a cover note that has the words "printed from an eBike printer" along the bottom?

Sorry  didn't mean it to be sarky hence the smile after it.
When i printed mine off it had the web address or something similar along the bottom as is the norm when you print something from a website, when you take this in they can see you printed it, when you get the one through the post that bit of info is not present at the bottom, also (not wishing to offend anyone) there are printers in use of varying quality & some don't give a very good result.
You can't use the DVLA site to tax a vehicle after the due date. And I think you'll have difficulty doing it within five days of the due date.
They state (as other have done so already) that it is an offence to display a tax disk out of date or none at all.
So if you use the DVLA site do so early.
Must say it beats queing up at the Post Office and you've no worries about producing your insurance policy cause DVLA checks the insurance industry database to see whether or not you are insured. The MOT is checked off against their own database.

Are they now accepting all renewals or just the selected few?
I ask because in April this year you were having to enter some kind of "lucky number" that you had to take from your renewal notice.
As far as I am aware they accept all renewals.
My wife has used the site to do her car but after the due date - so she had to go and join the queue at the local post office  That was October, and I did the bike in September
