visor question

anybody got/use an irridium visor???are they legal or do the police not bother about them?? :?

Yep I got one, never had any bother from the police for it

I think they are probably illegal although the tint on mine isnt actually that dark, I always carry my clear visor with me.

If you are going to get one be very careful with it they scratch very very easily :oops:, you can get some special cloths from www.thevisorshop.com that are really soft and are the best thing to clean one with IMHO

I use a dark smoke visor myself, that & the irridium are illegal, though i've never seen anyone pulled over for just that reason, it's more likely for the police to pull you for something else (speeding or whatever) then pick up on that while they go through the bike from front to back.



Fizz.....do you use one of those visor carrier thingies, if so how do you find it, i looked at one but as the visor for my shoei is pre curved & a bit of a stiff plastic i was worried about it snapping if it was on the back of my waist, would be ok on the side of my waist but thought it might get in the way.

Yep I've got a proper visor pouch, its Weisse one, TBH I dont have a problem with it, I've got a shoei to and its a bit of tight fit to get the visor in but once its in its fine.

I turn mine so that the curve of the visor fits round the left hand side of my waist, if that makes sense

Yea that makes perfect sense to me mate, thats exactly what i thought about doing but just wondered if it might get in the way there or something, thanks for that, just go & add it to the wish list. :wink:

I got a black visor, and a visor bag. It fits quite well on the side of my waist and isn't really noticable.

ive recently 'acquired' an arai with an irridium visor fitted ,i have a clear one for it but dont really want to change it as the irridium one has a fog city insert and the clear doesnt ,.so irridium is def ilegal(most of my use is daytime anyway)and i should b ok.thanks all :wink:

Depends on the visor. Have a chat with Scooby Drew as he has a road legal irridium visor, which isn't as extreme as some visors I've seen.

I've used an illegal dark visor for the last 2 summers and never had a problem.

I even used it last Sunday for a trip to the shops when it was nice and sunny. Passed a police car and they didn't bother. My cousin has been a copper now for 2 years and she didn't even know they were illegal until I told her (hmm, in hinsight maybe that was a bad thing to do! :lol: )

I think you'll have to be unlucky to get pulled up here - either a traffic cop who knows his stuff or be riding like a **** to be noticed. Although in my opinion, iridium visors make you look slightly more hooliganish than a dark one! 8)
