ACF-50 Spray.

Anybody used this ? I've just got some and was suprised to see it comes out like a foam, I thought it would be like WD-40 for some reason. Anyway, I sprayed it all over (yeah yeah not on the brakes !) and with a paint brush spread it all round the engine. Thing is, it's left a sticky film behind and this is attracting loads of little stones, leaves etc which just stick to the engine. Anyone else had this problem or is my can of this stuff 'off' ? Still, having a few stones sticking to your engine is better than the salt corroding it away.....

You might be spraying it on too thickly. Apparently you only need a very thin coating. I had a similar problem when I sprayed my forks with it. They immediately became encrusted with dirt. Still that washes off easily.

I've got to admit that the first time I used it I was a bit suprised that it came out as foam.

I now just spray it on an old cloth and wipe it over the areas you want to protect. As previously mentioned not alot is needed and you don't have to reapply it for ages.

Been using it for 10 months or so and nothing on either my old SV or my new DRZsm has shown even a hint of corrosion. As you say though it does attract dirt.

I thought the same when I first used it. I think I'll buy it in the bottle next time it seems a waste paying for an aerosol then wiping it on with a rag!

Seems to be repelling dirt on my bike. Strange. Maybe I've got a special magic can.

I can't recommend it highly enough. Ride throughout the winter and it stops the bike corroding. Although I hose the bike down after every ride, especially after the roads have just been gritted.

I've been using it for a year or so and before I spray it on I put the can in a hot bucket off water for 5 mins or so as this makes it come out alot less foamy and easier to use

you know, it's easy to over spray this stuff and all of the foaming. But, really, it makes for a nice shaving cream if you're not happy with how it works for the chain... it does seem to be a good prodect!

The bottle's abit of a pain in the **** to be honest... I was well impressed with the wee squirty applicator but it's packed in already. Think I'll be putting the bottle into a proper squirty-gun then going back to aerosols once it's done (in about a year, I reckon :) )

I don't really find it attracts dirt much either, except where I've laid it on really thick (i find all sorts of stuff stuck in behind the starter motor...)

Used this for the first time at the weekend - comes out like a foam at first then the foam dies down within a minute to leave a thin oily coating? Or is it staying like foam on some bikes??

It seems to need dedicated spraying to get it to come out properly - trying to do quick squirts doesn't work well as it seems too thick (just seen the bucket of hot water trick - that sounds good, I'll try that next time!) but most areas could do with a good long spray and once the foam dies down it doesn't look messy.

I found the small bore tube that is for sticking in the nozzle to be useless - too thick for the stuff to work properly that way. Mind you, it was freezing out there when I was using it.
