View Full Version : Special 2005 biking pics!

I personally had so many great rides and moments relating to biking last year and these were a blessed relief in what was generally a rather sh*tty one!
From collecting my Ducati up in Valencia and riding all the way back home with her,to Moto GP weekends and fantastic rides in the hills with both Brit mates and Spaniards.

But the pic below sums so much up for me. Relaxing in glorious sunshine in the company of Kim,(Mrs.Quiff) enjoying a natter and a cool drink. And there hugging the centre of attention is my bike! It was great to spend some time with Dave and Kim and it again emphasised what nice peeps there are connected to this site.

So what's your special biking pic for 2005 then?

For me I think it was this one:

http://www.bureaunet.com/SV650/avatar/Ride_July2005_1.jpg

Scorchingly hot day in July, we'd just stopped briefly in a typical English country lane, and the tyres were so hot (we hadn't been hanging about) you couldn't rest your hand on them.

Had the excellent company of Raf, Rictus, Sid Squid, and Sarj.

I think this image shows the highlight and unofficial end to the riding season for myself, having only been riding for a year at the time this pic was taken.

Whether or not it means something different to the others, I don't know :?:

Two for me, I guess.

Buying my second hand SV, which my daughter promptly took for a test drive:

And my first friendly small ride-out (you can spot the SV somewhere hidden below the 3 other trailies... V-Strom 650, BMW R1200GS and Yamaha TDM900, in case you're wondering).

ok 2005 was very bittersweet for me, the floods of January 8th 2005 that left 3,900 people homeless and my work "Mc Vities" on the edge of closure, hold too many bad memories.

But then again :D all the great meets with the massive (be it 3 or 4 members or the whole gang) bring back many fond memories  :D

the charity run for the air ambulance  (super attendance)

introducing some of the massive to hartside and seeing tara eat the hotdog :P

so many great days they outweighed the bad .

the end of the season BBQ (so eloquently hosted by the one and only El Bocadillo

http://www.mark.davidson.dsl.pipex.com/pics/bbqwide.jpg

Even if we had some little problems

http://www.mark.davidson.dsl.pipex.com/pics/fire.gif

then seeing the man himself hit warp factor 7 over hartside (truly amazing)

So all in all an interesting bittersweet year indeed.

Oh yes, That what he does for his retirement, he done quite a few about 10-15 bikes so far.
every nut & bolt, bigend shell, the works. Even down to remaking the tool box from an orignal pattern. My mum bought it for him in about 3-4 boxes a few (1984) years ago,

my top pics of 2005 happened in the dying moments of 2005.

I went to cartegena along with a few other minitwinners and spent the best 5 days on a race track i think i have ever had. ANd to top it all off i had these two as my instructors

And because the organizer was giving the proceeds to riders for health these two turned up.

ANd i got my first ever DNF  :?

But on the bright side i spent new years eve outside by a heated swimming pool watching Jezza and his kids along with leon haslam and his bird play around in there undies jumping off the villa roof.

Oh and for those of you who cant work it out. that is dean ellison and mike 'spike' Edwards who are in the first pic

My highlights were early in the year:

Seeing my 'Blade going from this:

to this:

One particularaly nice weekend where I played with both, on the same local route, thouroughly enjoying the variety between a V-Twin and an IL4...

... then rounding it all off with a nice bit of polishing and a group hug.

Though looking through some of the photos here makes me really want to get somewhere 'interesting looking' this coming summer. 8)

Couldn't get away with the connecting pipe being too close to the foot peg
and it's now mounted low level
But I think it looks the dogs b*****ks high level 8)

Has to be doing my first (and only so far!) track day - beautiful sunny day and learnt more about riding in one day than I thought possible! 8)
