TC3 .....

Not great pics but as requested. The Hamicad does leave small gaps...

And

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c178/Sofarz/ec7126eb.jpg

So I do know what you mean but before you pointed out I hadn't particularly noticed. Even with the gaps there is Hamicad metal behind it so if its water your worried about /shrug

A side profile..

While I am here I may as well show one or two other mods done recently....

This one here is the front colour coded inidcators, tbh the pic doesn't do them justice...

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c178/Sofarz/0fa858e1.jpg

And here is a crap pic of the digi indicator I installed, dropped it into the dash using a rubber grommit......much better that the velcro attachment is comes supplied with imo...

Side view, work still to be done :P

Sorry about quality of pics.

Now I need to change that screen and can

Pingu, is your bike an import?? Only reason I ask is the orange reflector on the forks in the last pic. All the K5s I could find on this site don't seem to have it and I seem to remember reading somewhere that some places require them. Or is it something you've put on yourself?

Anyway, lovely bike, and next time your backs turned I may try and steal your garage

Aye its an import, wasn't aware that the non imported don't have the reflectors, in fact the back snow shovel had two more also on the sides.

Pingu thanks for posting the pics. Yep that is the gap i was on about and just felt they needed covering as soon or later they will let it dirt from the wheels.

I have a ccc can but i find their link pipe does not let the can run nice and close to the body in a straight line so something to think about when you get a can. Will be buying a high level link pipe and remove those rear footpegs just to finish it off.

Great improvement over the ugly snow shovel but a hugger may be a good idea for your list also

Thought about this a lot, the problem is I don't like them. I wouldn't put a colous coded one on the bike as it would bring attention to it, maybe if I could find a matt black one I would do it for practical reasons.

I just like the look of the bare tyre tbh, we are all different I guess :)

Pingu...I also found that it ws virtually impossible to have the CCC end can run parallel with the bike.No matter how I tried it did always "flair out" slightly toward the back of the bike. That really cheesed me off but did have doubts that it was just me! :? Great sound though! :)

Agreed the sound is awesome but now with the hamicad, smaller plate and leds it seems the can flairs out even more and so a high mount is next on the cards so all i need is the bits to mount it and the link pipe

Mates bandit has the same can but runs parallel and looks better and i really think ccc need to alter the link pipe for the low down exhaust

Where did you get the indicators from? They are quality!!

Sorry Dan didn't see your Q.

The indicators were bought off Ebay and supplied from Hong Kong (took about two weeks) well worth the wait though as the colour coding is spot on and £24 for 4 not bad price either.

Be warned though all are short stemmed which is fine for the front but even with a smaller number plate caused me problems at the back. To get round it I used black tap washers which you can not notice but push that indicator another inch or so out.

If you can't find the place Dan let me know and I will dig you out a link.

Hey mate,

Nice bike! I like your indicators as well. Colour matched looks awesome!

Do you have any information on the gear indicator on your "dash"? That is a gear indicator, correct? Any details? Tips? Perhaps ah... tutorial? ;)

Clear silicone sealant will plug the gaps nicely, and keep your underseat dry

Yeah sank the Acumen digi indicator into the dash 'cos I didn't like the velcro thingy, thought it made the bike look cheap. This way it looks more part of the bike rather than a cheap add on.

First thing to do was decide where to put it on bike. This will alter slightly depending on riding style/height but just find a place your happy with on either side of the dash, consider the angle looks best to you. As you know on the SV the dash is at an angle near the display and straight (ish) on the far left, put it at an angle that you think suits it. I used parallel to the display as you can see in the pic.

Once your happy mark the four corners of the dash, these will be your drill holes later.

Take off the side panels of dash and check clearance for the digi, remember the protruding rear wire. There is plenty of room behind there.

Now take the dash completely off the bike (not hard).

Drill your four corners and then cut the hole out, a very sharp stanley will do the job but a Dremel or hand saw is fine. Don't worry about the finish much as the grommit covers a good 2-3mm.

Grab your grommit (!) Now this is easier said than done so I will give you a heads up....

I spent the best part of two weeks trying to find a grommit big enough with the right thickness etc until I came accross this site...

http://www.reevite.co.uk/pages/cbnpfs.html

Notice they have an option to send you freebies to try, I ordered 20-30 different freebies until I got the right size. I can justify this abuse as I was later asked by a internet bike shop how I fitted my Digi and I passed on this company name to supply him with the right size grommits. The company btw were great with fast delivery and never once questioned my intent. I will leave your conscience handle your own actions :P

Take your grommit and some silicone grease (remember we have a very tight hole) (!) Put the grommit inside your tight hole ( :!: ) and put the silicone grease around your digi and force it into the grommit (this is disgusting). It ain't easy but eventually you will get it in

I used a plug and play adapter so didn't do any soldering but the adapter is very cramped behind the speedometer.

To finish clear silicone back of Digi in order to ensure stability when riding (basically glues the back).

Oh don't forget you must ride the bike to programme the Digi so you want to do this before you fix it or it will be near on impossible.

If you require any clarification let me know.

Two extra pics for yah....

Again not great pics as done same time.

PS I didn't do this alone my father and I done both bikes, unfortunately I can't post a pic of his on here 'cos its a H*nda!

Hey,

Thank you very much for that write up. That should be good for now, I still need to buy the gear indicator. Have you beeen happy with your Acumen? Where did you purchase it?

Is this the right one (http://www.parts411.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&User_ID=3004825&St=7867&St2=680330316&St3=381384087&DS_ID=2&Product_ID=61241&DID=9)?

I've got exactly the same problem since fitting the hamicad, the pipe seems to flare out even worse with the smaller plate and tail tidy

I was hoping to be able to twist the link pipe and mount the bracket on the inside of the rear footpeg hanger, hopfully try it today and post pics if it looks any better than this:

Mine is mounted on the inside and it does not stick out that bad as in your pics..i did not slide the can all the way on the link pipe but instead left it hanging close to the edge of the link pipe and this also gives the pipe more play and gets closer...just make sure it is all nice and tight! Am getting a NWS can hanger so i can get rid of the pillion pegs and i may ask em to make it a teeny bit shorter. This will allow the link pipe to rotate more. The original can hanger does not allow the link pipe to rotate properly as the can touches the bracket if you know what i mean and so prevents the can running true to the bike

Well I took tools out to bike only to discover the can bracket was already mounted on the inside of the footpeg hanger :? I could have sworn i fitted it to the outside :?:

So i tried rotating the link pipe as far as it would go but the more you rotate it the higher it lifts the can and ends up pushing it into the bottom of the footrest hanger.

Here's a before and after, its definatly better but far from parallel to the bike.

Before:

After: sorry about quality had to use camera phone.

Yes it is better and like i said the can hanger needs to be shorter to allow the link pipe to rotate fully so can does not touch the hanger

It is about time that CCC addressed this issue with the link pipes for both high and low mount as they both need to be tweaked in design. Despite being notified about the problem from various owners they still have not done anything about it. Puts a dampner on a rather well made and well priced can in my opinion

Much better Daenon, as you said not perfect but a big difference. I agree with you TC3 it is seriously making me rethink my choice of cans.

Might go Holeshot afterall.

If i did it again i would not go with CCC just for the link pipe issue...everything else about the can is great

After noticing this small gap on the hamicad I got one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8027383791&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT from ebay and shall be fitting it on the weekend. It comes with a seal so it shouldn't leave any gaps and is also made from ali! Good stuff! I'll post a mini review when I fit it.

Concerning the CCC link pipe issue - they based the link pipe for the high level on the K3 model ( which means no matter how hard you try you cant get it to sit right on the K4-K6 models ).

Going to take a ride up to Fleetwood and get it sorted ( will give them something to work with ) they have been helpfull about this and were willing to fix problem any way they could ( they offered a refund or to manufacture new hangers or mounting plates to suit ).

Will post up the results next week.................

I just got a black dvd case and shaped to bits that cover up the gaps left and attached these to the hamicad...works a treat and is water tight and cost nothing

Maybe so, but this is cheaper than a hamicad and as I had niether I think it was wise to go with the one that was fitter for the job.

All I can say about the eBay one is, be careful it doesn't snap :!: Mk 1 Hamicad's snapped due to vibration & weight beyond the point where it is bolted onto the sub-frame :!: By the time you have a numberplate, 'cators, numberplate light etc. on there, that's a lot of weight flapping around unsupported :!:
