downpipes are not colored, it would have been the can. The pipes change colour as they are heated up and cooled down etc...

The colour will stay untill its polished out using metal polish. Jonboy is the master of shiny downpipes.

Got a magnet? It'll stick to stainless but not ti. I'm pretty sure Micron's only ever made stainless headers for the SV- but looking at it, I wouldn't totally rule out that it is titanium. My WRP never blues like that, but elsewhere on the system it looks much the same as this one.

What about just ringing Micron(saves all the going round in circles) :) and ask if they did a Ti sytem fo the SV. AFAIK they did not .

Cheers

i dont want this to sound wrong but a magnet will not stick to stainless steel unless it is really poo stainless! then it may well!!!!!! but proper stainless it wont!

and it looks like a very dirty and in much need of cleaning stainless to me! tbh i have never seen a set of coloured titanium downpipes on anything! and for tht matter neither have i seen coloured stainless ones!!!!!

Its a stainless Micron, they have never made a ti system,
Someone that can weld Ti would be good enough not to join the system with big welds, If it was ti it wouldn't be that ugly.

If you clean stainless then get it hot (blow torch etc) it will go yellow first and then blacken a bit before it cherries, then with start to blue as it cools.

Ti will go blue when it is heated and will go blue whilst the heat is on it.

I'm rather going on the assumption that it'll be poo stainless steel ;)

MY EXPERIENCE OF THESE SYMPTOMS IS IT MAY BE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING TOO HOT OR HELD AT A CONSTANT HIGHISH THROTTLE OPENING FOR A LONG TIME.THE PACKING IN THE SILENCER MAY BE PERISHED ALSO DUE TO THIS LEADING TO THE CRACKING AS HEAT GETS TO IT.WAS IT ON A RACER OR HIGH MOTORWAY MILES?HOPE ITS SOME HELP.WHITTY
