Hi Guys/Girls,

I've been reading the forums for a few months now, and finally thought it was time to introduce myself. I passed my test early October, and sold my CG125 a few weeks afterwards. I know it's still winter, but i couldn't wait any longer, and have put a deposit down on a SV650S K5, hopefully getting it in a week or so!

So, more from me next week, when I get the new bike!

G'day :D

A small run up to Sevenoaks to meet the SELKENT mob on a Wednesday evening might be in order

'lo richbeales....

snap - I got my test Oct/Nov - picked up my SV650s K5 on Friday :D :D :D took it out Sat and Sun and the smile on my face gets bigger every time I ride it! Once I figure out the technology I'll put some pics in the tuning/tweaking section as need some advice about modifications.

Have fun!

Quick update - have been phoneing/internetting for insurance -
bennetts £916
ebike £580
expressinsurance £510

so Express insurance it is (recommended by the Suzuki dealership i'm buying from). Does anyone have any experience of them?

All Fully comp, i'm 24, full license for 4 months, riding for 1 year, bike kept on road.

Also - should I get an alarm (£350 - datatool system 4) and crash bungs fitted (£???) before i ride it out the shop? Bike is £2999 with 1650 miles...

Thoughts?

Also - should I get an alarm (£350 - datatool system 4) - yes peace of mind and crash bungs fitted (£???) yes, could save you £1,000's if you're unlucky enough to bin it before i ride it out the shop? Bike is £2999 with 1650 miles...

Thoughts?

Crash bungs definately.. dont get the Suzuki ones though as they are utter sh*t

Alarm might be worth thinking about, you'll get a discount on your insurance, but TBH if somebody wants your bike they'll take it alarmed or not, Also the datatool on my bike is a total pain in the ar*e and has caused my bike to be unrideable in the past.

So IMHO you are better off investing in a nice big lock and chain and then chaining it to something solid.

If you are keeping your bike on the road, then if I was you I would get some sort of cover for it to keep the rain and frost of it at night. I use an Oxford Stormex when I leave my bike outside when its at my girlfriends top piece of kit.

Oh and ebike will give you discount for crash bungs so maybe see if they can beat your other quote.

HTH, welcome to the site

Try Carole Nash as they met and beat the best quote I got elsewhere (which was ebike) - got them down to £320 FC. I'm 28, full licence since Nov, 3 points, bike living in friends garage but would have cost the same if it was living outside at my place. they also had lower excess and various other good points which I now can't remember

I got crash bungs fitted - you never know in those first biking days (and many would say you still never know however long you've been biking!)

I also got a datatool Duo fitted - £199 by the dealer. I'd managed to knock the price down a fair bit so spent what I saved on a few extras :D
