I use the GPS too, largely because it's a pretty colour. Also, for a while you got a free baseball cap with a 4-litre bottle, and you can never have too many cheesy Castrol Racing baseball caps.

10W40 semi synthetic, don't fuss over the brand as long as you've heard of it.

I've even heard Woolworths oil sometimes is "Premium" brand just in a Wollies bottle!

Correct me if I am wrong, but is the GPS oil not synthetic oil?

I was on the understanding that GP was the Semi and GPS fully synthetic :?

I see, thanks for the enlightenment. :)

I looked here where it says synthetic.

Synthetic based, it says... I saw that one too and thought "Duh... I've been using synth all this time!"

Checked again now: says GPS in big print on the front and semi-synthetic
in small print on the back.

Pity I missed the baseball cap offer. On the other hand, hard to imagine
I would have ever used up 4 litres.

have been using rock oil guardian semi which i get direct from rock. when the rep came to see us i asked him about fully synthetic and any possible clutch problems. he assured me it would be ok so i put 5/40 synthesis in and no prob. because we are an industrial distributor we can,t but m/cycle products for resale just for ME :D

Hein Gericke's Oil & Filters deal is still hard to beat in my eyes... £24.95 for 5 litres of oil, oil filter & air filter... Hard to go wrong really :!:

I used Silkolene 10W40 last time, but the bike mechs who did my service put something else in it when they did the oil change.

Depends if you do your own oil changes of course... carbed SV takes, what is it, 2300ml without a new filter and 2400 without, IIRC, so you can get through it pretty quick...

XVS's right, Halfords sell a Champion pattern filter for a few quid less than standard ones- or you can K&N ones for £9 from M&P. Honestly, I reckon it's better to get a cheap one and swap it with every change than it is to get a top notch one and change it every second... But that won't stop me from using K&Ns, because they're cooler :)
