View Full Version : Opinions please ...
OK, I've been thinking about what to do with the rear end of my bike. I'd ike something a bit different, don't need to worry about a pillion. I've looked at the race tail sections for the SV, and to be honest they just look like they are a model taken from the stock one with the seat cowl on. (Well the ones I've seen anyway)
Then today I was speaking to Steve Jordan's Suzuki and the guy (I forget names so quickly  ) Mentioned they have K5 Gixxer Thou bodywork on their race bikes .... hmmmm
Anyway, after some quick photoshopping, which I didn't finish because it highlights the problems with the subframes etc., here is what it (kinda would look like)
What do you think..... waste of time, or worth looking into some more ....

They do have pics of their race bikes on the Steve Jordan website, but the colours just hide the details (And then I chose the black one to edit, me clever!!)

Do it, looks like it'll work well.
Looks very nice, though a little bit of a high rear end
Any way it could be lower down a bit? :?

Just get rid of the snow shovel at it'll be even better  I'd go for it but i need a pillion seat thicker than 5mm

It's one of the mods I'll be doing to my SV over the next year or so.

Looks nice.
I reckon it'd look really good with a high-level exhaust too...
Pix not great but I like the idea

Hmm... I like it, but it looks a bit odd in some ways. It's positioned right for the lines of the top of the tail, but that makes the other line that comes from the indicators look a bit quint. It could need a fair amount of subframe work to make it work, but it'd not be the first time. I've got something similiar-but-different on the back burner, but whether I'll ever do it I don't know.

I like it very much,if it were me and funds would allow I would get both wheels and the frame gold / bronze anodised or some other method. That would then be a brilliant job well done! 8)

very very sexy, why can't suzuki do this from their parts bins?
tail mirros the shape of the tank well
can you post the two original pics to compare
Just came back to look at this after a day at work, and I still think it looks good :P I'll just have to start investigating how it could actually be done and costs etc.
The two original pics are just the ones from the Suzuki website.

Bassman, fiddle with the front end a bit based on the GSX stylee and I think we could see the K7 SV :D
I really like cans that shape. I wish I could get one with a conical end for the GS, like some crosser cans you see. I guess you could get an end made for a can a bit cone shapey.

Make sure you e-mail it to Suzuki... They might get the hint ;)

How about a bit more fairing.........

That does look pretty nifty, you def. have a talent there Bassman. But they might do a a reduced size can for the new SV. Bit like the new GSXR and R6
James,
I think you're going to need a specially made rear subframe, and a seat from the Gixxer too.
Talk to Sarah about it, as it's not just as simple as bolting on some new plastics.

Nah, back to the clear lens indicators and taillight please. :-k
And that fairing looks a bit too big, like it's falling off the front of the bike... :-k
Other than that... where can we get one? 8)

That would look even better if they took the swing arm from the new naked 600 GSR or whatever its called, cant be that hard to do can it ?

That last one is the mutts. Aside from those footrests, no point in pillion pegs with a tail like that really.

Not sure on that Belly pan.
The rest however gets a

If it had USD forks & a bit more grunt from the engine youd be onto a winner for sure.

It has a subframe bought in from america IIRC but it does use a standard K5 seat instead of a GSXR one
So what we are saying is we want a GSXR frame/bodywork/forks with a V-twin in it... both 1000cc and 650cc versions... 8)
Lets all email Suzuki!

Nah, the SV frame is pretty good and if we had a GSXR frame it would be a bit wide.
The rear bodywork looks very good on an SV and we could certainly do with a more interesting swingarm.
The front bodywork would be nice as an option, but I don't think I'm going to do it.
The reason to change the forks is a bit of a no-brainer, though.
