Morning boys, girls and others :D
Just been googling but there are so many out there that i dont wanna end up with a rubbish one that then installs all kinds on junk with it.
I came across one that said "everytime you create a PDF a new advertising window will open in your browser."
Err no thanks. So any one know any good ones?
TIA

Nuff said!
I used primo once and was unimpressed with it. There seem to be big diffrenced between the free ones. I use pdfFactory & FinePrint buts its not free, briliant though & fast enough.
Some of the free ones would create a 4mb file while the same in another program would create a 1mb file. There was also things like embeding fonts that i needed which some free ones did not have.
Spi: i guess the one you saw was probably pdf995, well its sloooooow.

www.gobcl.com always worked for me. Free and no spam, but its a web based service not a download.
If it's free you want, then PDF995 works fine. Yes it'll open up an advertising window but to get around that the second the browser opens just press Alt+F4 and it'll close instantly ;).

.
Its slooooooo, it uses a silly two stage print system (well it did when itried it), it prints the document to PS (postscript) which creates a very large file then it processes it. Soooooooooowwwwwwww.
Just downloaded primo, seems better that it used to be, not much control over compression and embeded fonts but its fast & better than pdf995.

OpenOffice www.openoffice.org is free and can create pdfs from Microsoft Office documents. I've used it several times to create pdfs and it's been great.

It will work if the word documents are not overly complicated as it does not understand everyting, i tried using it with some of the documents we have at work and it just messed everyting up.

I may end up downloading a few and seeing what works for me i guess. Unless anyone has any bad stories about the Cute one.

PDF factory installs as a printer and works really well.

We use Cute PDF at work and no problems so far. Seems to have copied with everything I've thrown at it too. No complaints.

Was that version 1 or version 2 of OpenOffice. Version 2 was released fairly recently and is very much improved - so much so that it's almost like using a different program entirely.
