My name is Tricky and I bought Minidisc

I'm normally good at getting predicting which technologies will take off, well apart from my 8-track, betamax & laserdic player.

If anyone wants about 60 minidiscs, (I am currently compiling a list of titles), for the price of the postage there yours.

If you need somthing to play them on, look here

Now you're talking my language

I have MD and I'm sticking with it. No I-poddywhatchamacallit for me sonny

I would be interested in seeing that list, although I don't normally buy albums, I just make compilations. BUT if I fancy some I'd feel better about giving you at least a little coin for any I'd take off you. It's only fair.

I have a full size one for my seperates, a portale one for the bike (long motorway trips, it's not worth the fannying around on a short trip and I prefer the sound of the can while on a ride) and also a car one.. Although I sold the car to buy the bike, it was a very good one and not cheap either so I am keeping it for the next cage.

Which, BY THE WAY, I would love to be another Honda Accord. Or possibly a Civic 1.8 VTI for a year as a fun car before getting the Accord.

It's a pity minidisc didn't really take off - I've been using them professionally and personally for years, the quality is much better than reasonable bit rate mp3. The ability to name tracks in a working environment is very useful, and the discs are pretty hardy (plus they are re-writable).

I think it was the fact the players/recorders never really dropped to low prices that killed them.

I'm still using them, and don't see me changing... I like removable media, music's supposed to come in small packages, not in a wee featureless box. I don't download, and I really can't be bothered to put all my music on a PC...

Its odd as I've got 2 players and a separate for my stereo, and as long as my blank disc's don't give up I'll keep using it as its nice and easy for copying CD's and playing on the bike. I don't use it as much as I did though, but that's a more personal time issue then lack of usefulness in the format.

I have had Mini Disc from the start. Its in my car, and in my house. I think that its a really great format that just wasnt marketed properly. It was marketed against CD, and should have been against cassette.

However, i do now own a Nano, but do still prefer MD for car etc.

Minidisc did sort of make it though. It's not like laser disc.
I had an MD for a long time, till it gave up.
And the NET MD's you can quickly copy music onto them (allthough i had a traditional one).

All you need is a couple of discs, and you just copy on what music you want there, listen to it till you get tired of it and make new compilations.
Quiality is nice as well.

Now i use my phone with a memory card because my MD died (after a few years of use).
It was cheap to get as well.
And the discs are small and handy.
What i didn't like on it was the fact that it was bothersome filling out the song names on it.
So much easier on MP3 players, not to mention that if im on the bike, sound quality isn't that much of an issue due to background noise and engine noise.

But still, i think MD's are good.

If anyone is still a fan of the Minidisc, I have found a Sony MZ-N510 at the back of a drawer.

Can't test as don't have a disc http://www.ukgser.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif but seems to work, looks for disc etc.

If anyone wants it they can have it for a 'consideration' and postage. PM me. Not trying to flog something in this thread, hoping there is someone out there who still can make some use of it (and not flog it on on eBay!).

Boxed, with charger, headphone remote, case and origional headphones (no foam bits...bit old!). No manuals or any software or USB lead that may have come with it, I never used it via computer.

PM me.
