as i ride pretty much all the time using my leather kit, im wondering what there is in terms of waterproof oversuits in case of a downpour. Ive ridden in rain before in my leathers but i dont think its ever been prolonged. Any cheap options? (ive spent too much on biking this winter to justify yet another 3 figure sum)

edit - preferably something that packs up small

Lidl special 10 quid and packs up to a decent size (fully waterproof  lets say they have been tested by a willing volounteer (richie numbers) on out great april downpour runout.

only problem is they are on a special deal they will appear again but if you need them now hein gerike do a set for 29 quid i think.

I bought a waterproof suit, it is a pair of farmers overalls which are rubberised :P
I think it cost a tenner :P

i recommend a "buffalo" over suit. they're £30, and fold into a small pouch with a waist strap.

I've got an all in one from Hein Gericke which cost something like £40. Totally waterproof and a sound investment. My only advice would be to get a bigger size that you need as it makes them a lot easier to put on.

Who cares if you look like a blown up carrier bag, so long as you're dry.

well, depends on how much money your willing to spend.
i kitted myself out in a buffalo textile suit for 100 quid, warm and waterproof tested.
pretty good quality too.

my IAM observer swears by his spada suit, its thermal too so keeps him warm (ive been out wearing 3 layers under my leathers and cold as a bone, while he has only his leathers underneath his spada oversuit and he dont seem cold one bit)

ideally you want a 1 piece suit, as the 2 piece suits always seem to leak (in my experience)

i saw a transparent oversuit (similar to the MOTO GP ones) for 6 quid on the internet, but ive been searching and searching and cant seem to find the suit.

http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/products.asp?id=150 here are a few, the AKITO one i hear does the job pretty well.

personally before i got my buffalo suit, i used frank thomas trousers and a cheapo romford market waterproof top.

believe it or not, the cheapo top did a better job than the 40 quid frank thomas trousers. (granted . . . it is falling apart a little bit now)

I can not say this enough. Do NOT get a belstaff suit. They last about 6 months and then the lining just drops out of them and you get wet knees. This has happened to three suits so far (I bought one and my dad bought one, and then he got his replaced for free, but all of them have failed)

Got a Sidi all in one, never let in a drop of rain, make sure you try it on tho, mines too big but it was the last one at half price so I make do

Was £40 down from alot more... but its good
