Despite having my Termignoni exhaust system waiting for me to collect and fit,I am having second thoughts. Largely due to ongoing research and comments by many that have had the Termi's fitted. I might add that pĂ*ying top price for a known name which is normally associated with Ducati,is no guarantee of top kit.

In addition I have never really fully liked the look of the standard large underseat collector on my bike and buying the Termi is just repeating this but yippee you get a carbon shroud also!

As many of you guys that like to tweak and fiddle will agree, there is something about not just being run of the mill and having a bike that has a bit of individuality gives a special buzz to the owner.

Well as many of you know I am a big Moto GP fan and an exact replica of the GP05 race bike zorsts can be had from a company in Japan,(costs many yen though!) However on a similar basis I have found what could be a great option which will allow me to tweak the motor with a PC3 and the sound is effing awesome! Even for here they would have to be toned down! But again the sound is very raucous and moto GP ish, certainly different.

Have a look at the pics below, the one's shown are proto types and so are not finished off for the end user. I think when polished etc they would look very cool!

If I did go with them I would get them to make the zorsts finish maybe 2 or 3 inches shorter, nearer to the bike. BTW do not worry I will not at all be offended if you hate them! :)

Not quite there, but nearly. Potentially very nice. Where does the brake light go?

Northy...These exhausts aremade to your own specification by a company in the U.S. I am waiting for a reply from them as I have told them that here in Spain the license plate can't be hidden under the bike near the shocker.

I have explained that the wiring to the rear light assembly is carried in a metal tube which also must be hidden but the mounting of the plate needs to be at the same distance as it would be with the standard exhaust.Does that make sense? :? They have to figure out some way of achieving this which based on what I have seen of their work, should not be a problem:wink:

Fortunately they are part of a Ducati dealership and so have bikes there that they can use as models to come up with what you are looking for. :)

It will certainly be individual

I like the shape, but as you say, closer to the bodywork, and mybe a little smaller in diameter (those ones look like a pair of RPG's waiting to be fired  ).

Reducung the diameter should also allow for a rear light and plate assy.

Go for it mate, I would.... (But then I think you knew that already).

Northy...Go have a listen on the links shown below! There is a sound clip of a guy blipping a 999 plus a clip of a walk around a bike with them at tick over. Not sure if they have the baffles in...but am sure the Old Bill wouldn't be too happy!

Personally prefer the originals or at least teh termi's. Not my kinda thing.
As for the Number plate, ligts and wiring etc you could jut have a bracket/attachements welded under the exhaust?

wyrdness

I'm not keen. They look home-made - too rough and ready to really suit a Ducati. The termis look better and, as we all know, sound awesome.

I'm with Noufy and Wyrdness meself :? I've seen better looking chimneys :?

dunno if you should take this into account, though... I'm still on the standard can 8-[

After watching the videos Pete, get them

However, it does sound very 'Harley-esque' IMHO :!:

As someone who's never been a fan of the tail asthetics on the 999 (sorry peter), I have to say go for it. That big box is ugly and needs binning.

I'd maybe get them slightly slash cut - to mimic the angle of the tip of the tail. Oh yes, a wee bit smaller bore too.

Sounds very GP revving from tickover. 8)
And who said Harley? Go wash yer mouth out!

I agree. Castrate him indoors, you wouldn't want him to get cold. Just put a bin liner down first, don't want to make a mess on the carpets.

True, it could have, OK so take me outside, castrate me, flog me and feed me to the lions. Not sure about the "Peter" and "isn't idle" bit though. :? :?

The GP bike has it, just!

I like the look of the cans, as long as the rest of the bike looks tricked up. If the rest is mostly standard then it would be better with Termis.

Ladies and gentlemen we have come to the final adjudication.....

I have appreciated greatly all of the input and have made a decision to purchase.....

However to go with those pipes I agree that the bike would have to be transformed quite markedly or otherwise they would just look out of place.I would have to go for the race rep bits as a complete package I think. Having those pipes on what is largely a standard looking machine would I feel just be so wrong! Then again if the old back holds up and my long term ownership pans out, then that could be what I go for in a couple of years.(or I could by then have got hold of a sexier than sex 851 or 888 and then it wouldn't matter anymore!)

Termignoni? Many owners are happy with them but then there are also many who are dissapointed. I don't but the...it's a Ducati so it has to be Termi line. The half system with Termi gets you a new back box, front link pipe,(to remove catalyst to front cylinder) 2 x race air filters, race ECU and a carbon cover. Not bad you might say for about 1200 of your squid?

Well the filters are exactly the same as the standards...so WTF?

I am not a great lover of carbon and so an item costing over 200 squid that has no ownership value to me?

Many have found that the race ECU does not do the job and a better option is to go with standard ECU and Power Commander.

I have also read quite a bit on dissapointed owners telling about the build quality of the Termi's and them feeling a premium has been paid purely for the name. (I Know yeah so what did I pay just to get hold of a Ducati?!)

Well the order is just about ready to go in on the baby shown below. Made in Milan by a company that worked very closely with Ducati when designing the system. It has the benefit of a removable baffle for when I want to be at my naughtiest!

The brand name you will start to see even more as they are this season for the first time running in supersport. I was put onto these by a nice Italian guy called Fabio who really kniows his stuff and is a former bike racer himself.

The guys behind the mega's have not even bothered to reply to my "buyer" questions!! Where as Stefano from Tecnorace has speedilly answered all correspondence.

Northy...Due to an Italian guy on a Ducati site putting me in touch with this company....I really have just been made..."an offer I can't refuse!"

I am now going to be the owner of only the second titanium system made by the company(my pal being the first) at a price LOWER than a stainless version with postage paid from Italy!! It works out a good 30% cheaper than a Termi one! You got to love that?!

 To Stefano of Tecnorace and  to fabio in London!

Cloggsy...It will be my pleasure to provide sound clips mate! With and without baffle!

Going to realise a power increase when all set up of about 6bhp at the wheel (should then be in the region of 123 bhp  )and fortunatley more of a saving in weight on the bike than in my wallet!
