View Full Version : Wish me luck (please)
I'm off to see a big potential client tomorrow. Lots of contract work, in particular building contracts - not exactly JCT stuff, it's more like collateral warranties, T&Cs of engaging architects, M&E consultants etc - for a big project they're doing. And I understand they have a good few software installation projects on as well. Role is to draft or review the contracts for all this.
I've made it through to the short list, interview tomorrow. They don't want to pay much - twas ever so - but there's a lot of work to do, not as an employee, as self-employed. Exactly what I want.
Hope I get the work [-o< , it'll keep me out of mischief for a while :)

Best of luck Ed.
You don't indicate the size of the contracts your potential client is involved in. Most large constuction contracts these days use arbitration for dispute resolution. So brush up on this aspect.
Then again I wouldn't want to teach my granny to suck eggs.

Good luck.
Thank you all!
OK, back from Stratford (the Shakespeare version). Role is with the Council. I've had 2 phone interviews already, today we got on really well (after they got used to my haircut!) but ideally they want someone who can commit more time and actually be there to speak to other departments more than I can do. Shrewsbury to Stratford is 80 miles each way on the M54/M6/hideous M42/M40/A46, so not an easy trip and I wouldn't want to go more than once a week, bringing stuff back here. They seemed to think they might be able to manage that, but wanted to think about it. Work is a mixed bag, it would be very interesting.
