Just sold my kawasaki zx636 b2h and after previously selling my k3 sv650s have decided i would like another.
Just a few questions if anyone could please help me out.

1. I remeber the press used to be flooded with great deals on sv650s but now i seem to be struggling.

2. i dont like red and i dont think i am too keen on the black frame and current paints schemes of the k6 models. So i would be looking for a k5 unregistered in yellow, silver or blue. The best i have found is a yellow k5 at £4199 with the offer of 2 years free servicing.

3. I was hoping i would be able to pick up an unregistered k5 for £4000. Its a shame i don't like red as george whit are doing pre-reg k5 in red for £3699.

thankyou

why does it have to be pre- regestered, surely a nearly new one would be under £4k with some extras on aswell?

Also, what made you go back to the SV after a zx636r?

sorry i meant it does not ahve to be pre-registered. i don't mind either way. going back to the sv as i think my life was going to be cut short by going flat out everywhere on 4 stroke bikes that ask for lunacy. i know you can go slower but its not the point. i also miss the sound of my k3 with its blueflame evo.

Geoff If you're not keen on the black frame, I should let you know that it was introduced on the K5. Although having said that, the yellow k5 looks great with black frame IMHO, but i don't think it was an official UK colour option, so the bike might be an import. If it's got a silver frame, then it's a k3/4.

I got a brand new blue K5 from DK in November for £3800 (swapped my ZX6-R B1H for the same reasons as you !!!!). Anyway, I wasn't convinced by the black frame either, and DK still had some brand new K4s left. Might be worth seeing if they've all gone yet ..........

You won't get free servicing, btw, only a 2 year warranty. If you buy a prereg you will probably only get the balance of the Suzuki warranty, but will get whatever the dealer's standard used bike warranty is.

Be careful, there are a few members on the forum that would suggest going back to an SV after owning an inline 4 could be construed as a down grade.

I am not one of those people I hasten to add. I have been through the range to supersports 750 and "back down" again. I got the SV for the exact same reasons. Loads of fun and at such more sensible speeds too.

As has been said. Black frames were introduced in 2005, so you would be looking for a K4 or K3. I'd be surprised if you could find one that has not yet been registered already. Saying that my K1 was first registered in K3 so it is possible. Rare though.

Best of luck with your hunt. A low mileage K4 may be your best bet.

After a good days searching these are the options.

1. A new unregistered k4 in yellow with silver frame which will include the 2 yr free servicing at £4200

2. A new metallic light blue k6 with the 2 yr free servicing at again £4200.

3. Not really an option but had to put it in. A k5 in RED which is a colour i really don't like for an amazinly low £3600.

Help Please!!!!

Geoff,

Sounds like you're only looking at new bikes. Have a look at nearly new bikes that are already run in, you'll have a much wider range to choose from then.

Cheers

Option 3, it's a fab deal. You could always spend another £300 on a respray ;)
