Today I've received over 100 emails to my ebay account, and running at about 20 an hour still, from people complaining about a message I (allegedly) sent to them regarding a $3500 camera they have not received.
My account has not been hijacked, the mails did not originate from there ( to the best of my knowledge anyway - nothing in the sent items box, and it takes ages to send just one email let alone hundreds, due to that 'enter number in box' security thing. )
Thing is, what is the point? Why would someone send hundreds of emails bitching about a lost camera using my details? There is no mention of wanting a refund, just an abusive ramble - which of course is resulting in me getting plenty of abuse sent to my account.
Don't suggest I tell ebay, they have already been told by 20 or 30 people so far, but they have not contacted me yet.

You may be the victim of a random driveby prank?
Some people find it ammusing to knock up spoof email's with randomly chosen victims details and spam them off to the world and giggle to themselves for weeks imagining the hassle it's going to cause.

I'd just get a stock reply ready to cut and paste back to people telling them it's not a genuine ebay Mail and they should forward it to spoof@ebay.co.uk sorry for the hassle etc etc etc don't respond to any further mails like this especially if they start asking for details etc etc etc.
