Pics from last summer when i had the rack on always. The rack has only 2 fixing points and i do not really think it is designed to hold the weight of a box and contents. A full sports holdall seemed a bit iffy on the rack alone so when i tour i share the weight of the bag between rack and rear seat if i have a lot to carry and seat cowl stays at home

I agree, I have a Rentec sports rack on my curvy sometimes and it really is not good for much weight - I would say 10kg absolute max.

I use it rarely for this reason, the rear seat is a far better luggage rack.

IIRC they're rated for 7kg. What they're brilliant for, though, is bungees-

1 SV wheel, one GSXR wheel. I brought them home like that with the tyres on :) The load's taken on the pillion seat but there's no way you could safely carry that using the normal luggage hooks. With the rack, they didn't so much as shift.

suzuki sell a topbox and topbox mount that relplace the pillion seat.

Putting the box in the place of the pillion seat means that it dosent really have any serious affect on handeling until your going over 100 and i got the bike up to 125ish in germany and there was no weaving but it has an affect on top speed. You do know its there but its so handy for putting the helmet and other stuff in I dont know why more people dont have them.

I belive the box and mount are actually made my givi so they are good quality and both should fit to other givi products.

changing the seat and putting the grabrail back on takes about 5 mins, its removing 4 allen bolts and then putting two screws back in and bolting the grabrail back on.

Its takes two diffrent allenkeys but these can always be stashed somewhere so that you can still keep the toolkit and other important but infequently used stuff in the seat comparment

I bought a small top box for £25 with a Kappa base from a club member which I fitted to a rear seat bought for £1.05 off Ebay and a catch from a breaker for £5. I was thinking of adding a rack to carry soft stuff like a tent and sleeping bag. I tried the box and it works well.

Watch the weld where the part that bolts on the bike meets the rack. On mine it was held on with one small weld which broke. Had to get it re-welded and reinforced.

Is this with the suzuki box and mount?

Cloggsy i only use the rack now when i do a bit of travelling...it is only there to serve a purpose and not win a beauty award :D

The screen is a dark tint DB Fabbri as in the Motrax catalogue and avaliable from most accessory shops
