View Full Version : Haynes
Hi,
I can't find a Haynes manual for a pointy, leading me to believe that they do not publish one. Is the curvy similar in terms of servicing/general maintainance? If it is I think I will get it.
Thanks.
I didn't think there was one, but I have seen them for sale on ebay?

Haynes don't list one, so prolly not.
Well I have just found this one on ebay. But can't find it on the Haynes website. I think it answers my original question though, from years 99-05.

Haynes web site shows that the manual 3192 is for the curvy....has that one in the pic been photo shopped i wonder
Is the only difference between the curvy and pointy the frame and fairings?

The pointy is fuel injected, the curvey is carb'd.

The one in the photo is 3912 by the way.
But are you stating that the curvy is 3192?

According to Streetfighters it's very basic. I think I might pick it up anyway. Basic is good when you're a cack-handed monkey ;)

The '99-'05 looks suspect. In terms of the number matching the right Haynes manual, but Haynes themselves not seeming to know about '03-'05 bikes being covered now.
I contacted Haynes about 6 months ago and they said they had no plans to cover the pointies, yet in 6 months they changed their mind and made one that they don't tell anyone about?
I've emailed it to Haynes - should get an answer back as to whether it's a scam or they just haven't updated their site. The ebay ad mentioning that it's a very thick book gives some sort of hope that it could be an update, but I'll wait until Haynes get in touch - after all, they ought to know better than anyone else...
Be nice if it is real - have wanted one for months.

It is from a bike shop so you'd think it'd be legit....mind you some of his negetive feedbacks are a tad scathing :?

Well that makes me a lot happier... no reply from Haynes yet but with Amazon and bookkoob doing it, it seems more genuine. Will let you know when/if Haynes reply!

You may find that particular book is a "US only" publication, hence the wait from Amazon.
.
It's probably just an update on the original manual. I can't see Haynes doing one for each model.

The lady from Haynes, she say...
Thank you for your email.
We have got the updated version of this manual up and coming which we are hoping to have available around the end of February beginning of March.
Would you like us to email you when this manual is available?
Kind regards
Vicky Hall

I'm in the same position.
I've wanted one for almost 2 years, a month or so longer won't kill me. :)
I also think it's highly unlikely Amazon are going to be wrong about the existance of this book.

I reckon its OK and Haynes have just added a supplement for 2003 and onwards models covering the fuel injection and any other differences. Thats what they usually do.
Adam.
Mine arrived today. It has been updated to include the K3-K5 models.

Can you let us know if its ok, and I would love to order one myself!
Cheers

One other option that nobody has yet mentioned is the genuine Suzuki workshop manual. When I was shopping for a service manual when my pointy came out of warranty my local dealer said they had the original manual for about eighteen quid IIRC. Got there to find it was the pointy manual (the guy was unaware of the differences in model  ). They had the genuine curvy manual too but that was somewhere near forty quid. So I got the Haynes.
We could not work out why there was a difference in price. Supply and demand possibly as pointy models were still new and people were keeping their warranty alive with dealer service, low sales = low price? Curvy model more likely to be home spannered, high demand = high price?
Worth a look.

It does exist..... got mine on Monday after buying from eBay. Not had a chance to check it out properly yet, but it looks good to me. Electrical diagrams are in COLOUR! 8)
Garry
are any measurments in metric or in imperial in the book as i suspect that the book is only avaliable from the USA at the moment

Ordered mine direct from Haynes on Friday and it turned up this morning. It has all the data for US and Euro models, all in metric (though still gives pressures in PSI as well). It's marked down as printed in the USA though.

Comes to just under £22 with postage, and it's quick delivery.
