View Full Version : Number Plate Light.
Previous owner of the bike fitted a tail tidy but didn't put the number plate light back on, looked under the pillion seat found the old light still wired in but not working badly corroded wires. Noticed that both wires going to the LED were black which is correct to the wiring diagram out of the manual, does it matter with LED's which way round they go will it simply not work if I conect the wires wrong.
I've ordered a 12v LED number plate light of ebay should be here in 2 days.
Yes the MOT's due next month thats why its being done.
LEDs can only be connected one way. With both wires black just connect it one way, if it works then ok if not just swap them arround.
With all LED's for number plates, any light for that matter at the rear, just make sure there is no white light showing. I have an Ermax LED cluster
my sv has an aftermarket undertray/tail tidy with no number plate light, is it definitely part of the MOT that it should need one? Bit of a pain in the **** if it is as I can't see where I could fit one :(
I was going to ask that question too, I fitted an undertray on my bike which involved disposing of the light and was wondering whether it's necessary since the tail light shines on the no. plate anyway?
I'm also a little wary about LED ones since you're only allowed red light coming from the rear of your bike, and there tends to be a lot of light "spillage" with those LED jobbers.
This is what I've ordered its in a suround to shine the light on to the number plate.

It is an MOT requirement.
