Ok I had a normal evening last night, by normal I mean, strip a set of throttle bodies down smooth the internals, remove the butterfly cams and mod them, all for an extra 10% internal area, and smoother gas flow.

It's the shaft that supports the throttle butterflies, well, one of them anyhoo.

What :!: , but I thought all normal people did this sort of thing in the evenings
Butterfly valve in throttle bodies (large round disc, moves when you turn the throttle to go faster), cam, ( the bit that holds it in place and rotates it).
By smoothing the casting marks out of the bodies and taking away the extra matirial on the cams, you get the same effect as if you had fitted large throttle bodies (greater gas flow), basically a performance mod for no money.

so basically, you've cut six whopping great chunks out of a steel bar to make it lighter and lower turbulance it.
Not a materials engineer here but I'm presuming this bar isnt under stress at any point, therfore can survive as long in the engine despite the zombie attack?
Doesnt it weaken the arm itself? there doesnt seem to be much meat on that center bit :?

It's not steel it's brass, the force is rotational, it's made from stock dowl, and as I haven't any intention of hanging off it, it'll be fine.
Cheers Mark.

Stock'd Owl? we talking some wing'd night terror here?
but back in reality.... so basically make with the larger grr from engine then, all this going to require rejigging of fueling et al?

with the butterfly inserted and fixed in place it's more than strong enough, it would cost more to produce if the manufacturer was to profile it when made.
I haven't done it up until now as with the Header mod I intend I will need an ignition advance to help it perform the best, of course having the tuneboy software, I can now do that dynamically across the rev range to best effect.
Cheers Mark.
Hope that helps
Lots - thank you!
