Hey all.

Have bought some new bar ends. I'm having a problem with getting the left hand bar end off.

One side was an allen key and the lh side is a screw bolt and the head has disintergrated. I've tried an extractor set but no luck (not very good at that stuff!)

Anyone in the south london/surrey area like to have a look at it. would bring the bike to you and pay ya.

cheers

steve

I would help, but I am moving house. Sorry.

You could take it to a workshop, they should be able to do it very quickly.

When I did mine, I belted a torq bit into the bar end with a big hammer, then turned it with a side-armed screwdriver (helps to seperate sideways pressure and inwards pressure, means you can keep a heavier push on the screw)

I've got nothing to get any leverage on it. I'm an idiot, i just cant get it off.

There's a chance that if you turn the bar end, the bolt will turn with it... Moleys/strap wrench...

you could get an old screw driver or similer and chem metal it to the screw, or drill the head of the screw off.

I've never had any luck drilling out a screw head... I have however had luck with using jbweld (http://jbweld.net/index.php) to attaach a new serface to attack it from.

The only other thing i've ever had work involved a hack saw/dremmel (just turn the phillips/etc... into a flat head).
