Hello,

Yes they're different, but as I recall both clutches fit both bikes*. The innermost plates of the later clutch are different, the mod evens up wear and helps with the juddery clutch some early bikes suffered from by shifting the clutch pack out of place when it's lifted. A bit like the concave plate on the inner end of Kawasaki clutches.

*You need the whole lot though, plain plates too.

The whole clutch basket is different so, assuming it did fit both models which I honestly don't know, it would prove rather more expensive than replacing the bits you really need.

I was just considering the plates alone.

I guess you mean that if you replace the basket & presure plate with a pointy version then it will work?

Um, seems rather expensive. But if you are able to source the parts cheeply and suffer the problem that Squid mentioned then may be an idea. Just will have to remember to tell the next buyer that the clutch is diffrent.

I've got a couple of clutches in the garage, from a K1 and 00 I think... I've only checked one, it's in reasonable nick- decent plates, springs are within runout, and the basket is a little worn but not badly... Drop me a PM if you're interested. Cheaper than new plates, though less good (assuming that new plates is all you need of course!)
