Recently the bike has been getting harder to move around physically, and has developed a squeak which is quite annoying. How do I check whether it needs new bearings or just a regreasing of the axles?

It's not a caliper or warped disk then?

Shouldn't be. There's no obvious reason for the disc to be warped, and brake action is fine.

The brake action may well be fine, but I would put money on a slightly sticky caliper.

h3 speaketh the truth. Pop the calipers off and see if its easier to move around. If it is, then its the fabulous stick caliper syndrome

I bet one of the front calipers!

Also check the chain's lubed and cleaned (Perhaps not in that order 8) )

If you've got some form of stand or a mate to hold the bike on the side stand + one wheel at a time, you can check which wheel is sticking
