Good question! but anyway...

I'm about 2 miles from Filton (and work there) so can probably help sometime. Just let me know when.

Regarding qualifications, I did build my car and do the brakes and it has always stopped so far....

I should be getting a contract to work in either Gloucester or Bristol around April(ish), although I found out today that the project I'm on now and contracted to until the end of march is now extended until mid May so will have to see what happens.

I basically decided to move to Bristol because it was more central and the best place was in Filton SOOOOOOOOOOO I'm moving in about 2 weeks. So where are you Anna? You can buy me that beer....

Dr Rich, cheers mate, I just may ring you soon pal

Ok mate, been a bit ill and also tied up in other things last few weekends. However will be pretty much free after next weekend for riding, and also for after work trips ex Bristol when weather pics up. Me and the missing Monkey used to go up Wye Valley and through forest many an eve after work in summer. Keen to get that going again.

HELLO EVERY-BODY

Hi Doctor Nick.. :?: :?: :?: :?:

ANYWAY. I have in my posesion a set of braided hoses. I am officially moving to Bristol this weekend SO...

Back to the original question.

Anyone here know how to change the hoses, replcae the fluid AND bleed these and is willing to help me? Over the next weekend or two? I know about the brake fluid absorbing fluids from the atmosphere so if it's wet I'll wait for better weather.

yup that looks like rupert

whats going on with the wheels on that pic though, the back one looks really black and the front one looks charcoal but with a polished rim! anyway they are both charcoal now.

im afraid the bikes currently dirtyer than that and the downpipe needs attention (which will be done as soon as my fingers dont drop off when i go outside!

just need to find my bro an sv at a reasonable price now! (s or naked...HINT HINT...anyone got one for sale????? pointy please)

I'm a bit busy this w/e but next week's probably free. If you're interested, we can sort it out nearer the time.

As for cheap SVs, George White are advertising a brand new K4 SV1000S for less than 5k

Was chatting to flammin squirrel over MSN.. looks like there are NEW B1H ZX-6R's up for £5K... obviously unsold stock from 2003/2004... I paid £4290 for mine second hand.. gutted now! lol

You sorted those brakes hoses yet or wat?!

Had my bike serviced on Friday & can't believe how much better my brakes feel having had the calipers cleaned & bled. Really should do it myself more often...

valleyboy

I gotta clean my brakes again shortly, as well as bleed the buggers... still got a few things to do and get done before I can start racking up the miles again.. going to be fun.. first time to bleed brakes... wel, if I mess up.. I'll find out soon enough!

I'd definitely advise having an assistant. Whoever you trust the most takes responsibility for opening/closing the bleed nipple & keeping the end of the tube submerged in brake fluid, the other for applying (light) pressure to the brake lever. A few cycles of open, close, reapply lever should see the job done. (should!)

valleyboy

I cant trust anyone round here! looks like I'll be doing it on my tod!

If you see a green ZX-6 buzz on past in south wales... its due to the fact I cant stop!

Was thinking of getting one of those brake bleeding kits, but at nearly £40 a pop... I dont think its worth it!

Still, I have plenty of other things to get on with.... grease up the swing arm bearings and suspension linikage etc.. easy on a Kwak.. just need a grease gun!
possibly change spark plugs.. may let the garage do that one along with valve clearances... grease up gear change lever pivot.. and contemplate changing sprockets and chain myself :?

first need to put a grease nipple on the linkage, bugger fell off at some point... chance to tweek some nipples :P
And get bolt off for footpeg, as the thing rounded when I tried getting it off last... time to get out my work bench and some swear words to shout at it next time!

.. a piece of pi$$, took me 30 mins to do the lot...
On my own..
Without help...
Or calling anyone for advise...

AND THEN I WOKE UP. It's been a ruddy nightmare. I've spent a total of 5 and half hours on the front brakes. And millions of cals to ThunderDave (from the thundercat site, sorry mate and as all these catters are my witness I owe you beer at Welshpool). Got hacked off with it so I tried to do the rear brake, done and dusted within 15 minutes. No problems

Dave the idea you had about taking the master thingy off the handle bars and tipping it the other way worked, lots of air bubbles came out.

The brakes are severley slack and although they have to be pulled right back to the handle at least now the brakes work as before that it was slack and had no effect. I have bungeed the brake lever in and will see tonight if that has made any difference. At least now I should be able to (carefully) ride it to a garage on Thursday and get them to bleed it properly for me.

BARSTEWARD.. Oh well, I had a fantastic time ripping around south Wales on satuday afternoon but due to this the rest of the weekend and monday was spent in the freezing cold and wind uttering many a four letter word

I've now moved into this house in Filton which has wireless broadband, so I bought a card for my laptop, only problem is that is can see the network but won't let me on the internet... So the only time I can get on the internet to check the site is at work. Any idea's?

Oh and I DID buy one of those kits for £40 and it was crap, I'ended up using just the piece of hose by the end of it...

Cheers

I had one of these pump kits but don't forget that the bleed nipple is a threaded screw, while you've got this thing on and the bleed nipple open it could be sucking air in thorugh the treads of the bleed nipple

(I've never got away with saying 'nipple' so much before...)
