One of the national daily papers is asking for comments about "what it means to be British".
This one from someone in Switzerland raised a smile.
"Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV".
And the most British thing of all?
Suspicion of anything foreign.
Very good... Seen ot before somewhere but still makes me smile, all the same...
However, for me, it's more like:
Driving a British car, British-ish van, British bike or Japanese bike to an English Pub for a British Ale, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or Chinese on the way, to sit on Italian furniture and watch British dramas or American Sitcoms on an Italian Projector, playing through a British/Japanese/American Home Cinema system!
So, it doesn't work for everyone, then!!!???
I'll get me coat!
Made me smile, because it is soo true.

There's plenty of British things that are well worth buying...
Can you honestly tell me that none of the current Triumph range floats your boat?
Or perhaps, any of the TVRs?
With Hi-Fi, nothing beats British...
However, all of these do tend to come at a premium, as they are generally more 'high-end' items... However, you only have to look down the line a bit at perhaps, Rover... Oh... Damn - there goes that one!

Quite!
You can't get much more British than Blackpool!!!
As a contrast - Rotel (big Japanese HiFi company) have been owned by Bowers & Wilkins Loudspeakers for a while now... They're a truly British company based in Worthing!! So - many things are not quite what they apear from the outside!
TVR are now owned by a Russian
and some triumph frames are made in thailand

Shouldnt british manufacturing say assembled in Britain rather than made?

Think the rules are based on what percentage of the components are made in the UK.
