Kitted up and left the house at 8am today, 'a bit chilly today' I thought 'I better watch myself.' Got to the top of our street, a slightly up-hill t-junction. I'm turning right, it's nice and clear so no need for a foot down, we bit of gas and turn and then whooooooooooow, back end comes way out to the left and down we go. HARD. never thought a 10 mph spill could hurt so much.

Bike landed on my leg which hurts a bit and got a big bruise on my hip where the padding in my trousers rode down a we bit. I struggled to get the bike up and moved off the road cause of the ice. There was a guy sitting in his car waiting to drop his kid off at the school bus, must have been 20 yards away - and you know what's coming next - he didn't help me! Thanks mate. :toss:

My already done-in R&G bung (still not replaced from K-hill! ) is now completely knackered and I've smashed my indicator (and clear lens :x ), my back brake has snapped off half-way up and bar-end looks bent (although might just be the screw that's bent). On the plus side the indicator still works and no scratched paint. It's nothing £50 won't fix.

Oh well, at least it's friday, I'm taking the day off and I'm going to enjoy a bacon butty and play Battlefield 2 all day.

Careful out there!!!

ps. anyone got a spare k3 indicator and back brake lever?

Cant believe no one helped you out!

Sorry can't help with the spares. But plenty of commiseration’s to give away.

What is it with somebody who will not get out of their cage to help. Or are they frightened that you being a dirty greasy biker are going to bite the heads of his kids for breakfast.

That's a real crap start to the weekend eh? :( Sorry can't help with parts either but I'm really glad for you that there's no paint or bodywork damage.

Hope the pain eases quickly for you.

Unlucky mate. Glad it's not too bad. It's easily done in this weather. I had the same thing happen after I came of a roundabout the other week, a bit too much gas, luckilly I managed to straighten things out before I got chucked off. Didn't half crap myself though.

You know I'm actually surprised no one helped you. I mean, down here, they actively try to run you off the road, but other side of the boarder, well they nod, wave, let you out of junctions, generally less ****tery.

But anyway, a friday sat inside play games should go someway to compensating for the bruising, good choice that man.

Oh and, same happened to me 2 years ago although a couple of people stopped and a wee wummin had to help me lift the bike up (in wishaw)

sheeeze, was I embarrased, could feel the glow under the helmet

the converse of that though, 6 months after that, was touring Ireland and managed to catch my troosers on the footpeg on the harley at a standstill, fortunately was falling to the left and ended up jammed against a wall
since the big heifer is 255 kilos, can imagine the struggle i had to lift it up, took me 4 attempts and 10 mins, this was after a woman in a 4x4 stopped, looked twice then ****ed off and left me - boot

just as she drove off, white van o'man (irish version), drives by and slows down, girl in van stares at the struggle as van goes by at approx 1mph, then they **** off as well  ****s

anyway baz, hope you are ok, cheers mate and let me know ref the indi

Unlucky mate... Sometimes people can be absolute stars when you need a hand, sometimes they can be bar-stars. At least you didn't get told to do push-ups this time.

Hope you heal up quick.

Sorry to hear it man and glad you are ok. When I fell off in the rain on a roundabout, I was very lucky that the car behind me stopped- or they would have run me over  Seriously though, my shoulder was trashed and they picked the bike up for me. You'll find that the SV is rideable without a brake pedal, just turn your foot in a bit

Sorry to hear of your off mate, thats typical of the caged drivers.
My girlfriend lost her balance in the garage just before she got off to fill up and was left lying on the ground with several drivers looking but not helping.:crutches:
A*seholes.
Lucky that its only minimal damage to both you and your ride.

Just remembered, first time i ever came off a bike was a disc-lock drop on teh 'orrible Yam. I couldn't get out, the bike was on my leg, but I was laughing pretty mnuch hysterically at the ridiculous thing I'd just done- someone came over and thought I was in pain because of the noises I was making ;)

Gutted for you brother.

Doesn't matter how slight the damage its always a kick in the privates

.........but as kicks in the privates go, its maybe just an "eye-waterer". :)

Everybody knows big bruises are cool anywayz!

Hope the two of you get repaired quick,

Andy

I had a similar situation, I was in Hinkley after just leaving Drayton Croft motorcycles. I stopped at the lights and I felt the bike going over  I tried to stop it, but it was too late

A bus behind me was blowing his horn, no one got off to help and the guy from the bike shop ran down the road to help pick me up :D I kept my helmet on to reduce embarrassment

Thanks again for all the kind words. I'm fine now.

Rab, sorry I missed your post, if I could have one of your indicators that would be great. It's the clutch-side, right as you're sat on the bike. What's it worth? About a tenner? Seriously let me know what you want for it. Maybeyou could post it to me and I'll be happy to send you the dosh for it and the postage by return? Let me know.

I'll probably have a go at replacing the brake lever myself, what's involved to get the old one off and new one on?

Not sure if it's the same for a jaggy SV, but it's not hard on the curvy. Remove the lever assembly from the bike, undo the footpeg bolt from behind, and then remove the whole footpeg and lever. Unscrew the lever from the master cylinder actuator, bob's your uncle. But that footpeg bolt can be a beast to undo.
