Made the big mistake of calling a dealer about an Aprilia Falco after reading about them in BIKE magazine...
and this is what I now have in my garage instead of the SV :

I had a Falco for a while, really, really grunty engine. I had the front wheel up on a number of occaisons, non of them intentional. You got the best colour option too.
Get yourself the factory cans & RSC chip, sounds amazing and goes like stink....
Have fun

Aye, it came with the Aprilia Racing carbon cans and the chip. What a racket compared to the SV   :D (and I had a Scorpion race can on the SV).
The engine is a peach and comes with a slipper clutch and drump sump to prevent oil starvation while the front wheel reaches for the sky!
Fantastic bike and riduculuosly cheap for what it is!

'drools'
I very much want one of these in the summer, but I'm not sure how likely it is.

You utter b**tard :) One of the very few bikes I'd consider taking over my SV.

Well done young man, thats what I ride, but in the faster colour :D !!!
A good site is the apriliaridersite.com, UK based or AF1 US based both a great reference point.
A word of caution, watch the side stand! it keeps the bike very upright a simple mod from Jorge at Renegade £25 will cure it, also the std Blue shock is ok at best if you get the chance you can insert a mille one easily and it transforms the handling. Enjoy the ride, its a buzz :P

my brother had one. He called it his "hoodlum" bike because it had full exhaust, remap and lower gearing. I rode it once, scary! Nice bike!

No, the phrase for the Falco is "Very"....
Very Loud
Very Fast
Very Comfortable etc etc...
I did a ride round France with a bloke on one of those.
Surprising! A real sleeper. Quick, good handling and understated.
Nice.

Must be the weekend for it
Very nice 8)
Beast! 8)
You are right there Fizz, looks like its becoming unfashionable to have an SV on this site!
Very nice 8)
A friend of mine has an Aprilia Tuono which I had a lend of on Saturday and I must admit I would consider one when I decide to change the SV.
Very Loud
Very Fast
Very Comfortable etc etc...
This is how I would also decribe the Tuono.
Oooh - nice. Congratulations on your new purchase. I've always thought they look ace when I've seen them in the flesh. Too much of 'everything' for me though I think.
Rock me Amadeus!

I would also say this about the Tuono.
Having experienced a couple of Tuono's I would have to agree. But, compared to other naked bikes in its class, the Tuono seems very rough and brutal. If you like that sort of ride then fine, I just can't get on with them. They vibrate so much, the back kicks out so easily too.
A good friend has one and says you get used to it, I don't know if I'd want to.....

Very nice. I was seriously considering one (in that colour, as it's the best) but bought the Speed Triple instead. Have fun on it!

The thing about this site is that everyone lately has started talking about what to buy after the SV!
The SV was (and still is!) a fantastic bike. I had mine from new for a couple of years and it has taken me through two winters in Scotland, a trip through Switzerland, France and Barcelona and my daily commute to work without missing a single beat.
The only niggle is that after a couple of years the SV starts to feel a little underpowered and the suspension, while being fine for a daily commute, is not really the best for hard thrashing on B roads.
Many people on this site talk about various mods, from a front end conversions to suspension upgrades. But when you put into perpspective the fact that the Falco was exactly the same age as my old SV and cost £700 more, I thought I might as well change my ride rather than pimping it up. 8)
I never really considered the Falco until Northwind mentioned it in a couple of posts! You really get the best of both worlds: power delivery from the RSV 60-degree V-twin and a riding position that is quite comfy and very similar to the SV.

I must admit I did scare the sh*t out of myself a few times.
It did seem that the back end was kicking out but Saturday was the first time I had rode one so I wasn't sure if it was just me not being used to the bike.I didn't think the vibration was to bad.
One thing I would do would be to sort the side stand out it give me the impression that the bike would fall over very easily.
I think a few more test rides on the Tuono is required.
