Hi, been trying to find out more about the PS3. Was thinking of buying a DVD HDD Recorder and toying with a media centre but then started thinking that if the PS3 could record digital TV then no need. It looks like it will be able to store and display photos, play MP3s and DVD's but if it could record from freeview or sky then sorted. Anyone?

Cheers

Looks like the PS3 will be delayed till next year 2007 now.

Thing is already have a PS2 so can play DVD, have a video to record TV, don't have a stereo want to get rid and have just one unit, media centre. If I buy a DVD HDD then will have problems justifying a PS3 purchase nd still stuck on music. C'est la vie I guess.

Looks like the industry can't get its act together about setting the new DVD standards and Sony are holding off until they do.

what about a new pc with microsoft home media xp... or whatever its called. Dell had some advertised with 19 inch LCD's which weren't much than you'd pay for a 19inch lcd tv.

and then if it works you can tell me and i'll buy one. :D

Ive got one hooked up to my tv.

It works well and the recording quality is very good as is the music and photo features etc..

My only hang up is its integration into the Set-top box. You have to dangle a IR transmitter in front of it and the channels have to be scrolled through one at a time unless you use the TV guide or type in the number. You cant scroll through the cut down guide whilst watching tv like you can with sky.

Hopefully all will be fixed with the arrival of windows vista.
