OK, I might sound like I am undecided, I have ranted over an SV 1000, a Ducati S4R and a Z1000, even looking at a 749 Hybrid :?

I have ridden a Z1000 and an SV 1000, I have played about with a GSXR 750 and a 600!

Being a shortares, I cannot manage an Aprillia Mille

Anyway, my mind is about made up with a Z1000, until!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clay Cross have kicked me in the scrotum, I was offered today £2100 for a 2003 curvy with 14k against a 7.4k Kwak although they were trying to sell an x plate SV for £2895 with 16k on the clock.

OK they have to make a living, but even bike riders have to eat.

I have to see some figures from my local man about px on an SV for a 2005 Z1000 with 100 miles on it.

I don't see Clay Cross getting my business as they seem to be getting the best of both worlds.

£6999 - £2100 = a big chunk of money

I can't remember the exact figure, but I believe George Whites are doing the Z1000 for significantly less than that at the moment.

What does a 749 Hybrid look like :? :)

I've just got a letter from George White(bought my 1000 from them).
Apparently , they can do Z1000A6 for £5999 but priviledged customers ie me   can get an extra £500 off.

Probably worth having a look at them.

Cheers
Ben

Yeah, that's where I read it; £5499 for me, too. With 3 years interest free finance on it too, a black one is very, very tempting. I cannot afford it and I cannot afford the insurance. I just have to keep on saying that to myself repeatedly...

I was offered £2700 trade in on my 9 months old K5 SVS, and it looks just like it rolled out the showroom, so your offer was pretty reasonable...

Brother brought a Z1000 just under a year ago from KJM (wigan or somewhere like that) £5.799 canadian import, but fully converted to uk spec.

Cheers Mark.

SORRY :P

I thought the Z1000 was retailing at £7300 and the Z750 was in the 5k area.

I dont know what a 749 Hybrid looks like either, but On yer bike have got 12 of them :D

I keep looking on Autotrader at Z1000s - they are down to £4500 for an early one if you look hard enough.... pending a test ride it will definitely be my next bike... nothing else stirs my soul quite like it!

Yeah it'll be my next bike, but I want an orange or green one, so its either buying an old one or waiting to see what they're doing with the 2007 colours, can't do anything till oct/nov anyway so hopefully they'll have decided 2007 colours by then :D

I have an orange one as my desktop background... it just looks soooooooo good! 8)

Funny isnt it, year is irrelevant - its all about the right colour! :D

Probably think about it next winter to see what deals are about...

Just as a word of warning, the looks maybe stunning, but that's just what Kawasaki was doing, the ride while competent, isn't charcterful at all, in fact I was a little disappointed myself, It's safe and (excuse the honderisum) a bit bland if anything, the pipes look wonderfall but are whisper quiet, so aftermarket cans are in order, I'm not over keen on the "one legged forks either (although they work OK, nowhere near the sports bikes kit), the front brakes once again are ok but not to the same standard as the sports bike, perhaps a 636 frontend swap would work out well.

So, your looking at binning the cans for twins (as opposed to the quads) and changing the front end to sort the suspension & brakes, then you have a bike that looks the part and goes as good as it looks.

Nice bike, but I'd probably get the Z750 and spend the extra cash on the changes.

Cheers Mark.

749BP HYBRID
One particularly stunning deal is that available on the 2005 749 BP Hybrid. What is that you may ask? The standard Red 2005 model comes with black wheels and red frame. The now out of production Yellow model had a grey frame and grey wheels. Simple really, factory stop making the Yellow bike in July 2005 but still have 60 grey frames and sets of grey wheels. Bingo lets produce for the UK only 60 of these bikes in the 2005 model Red bodywork but use the grey chassis parts. The bikes still feature the new Black swinging arm and exhaust heat shield of the standard bike. The big deal though is that the RRP of a 2005 bike is £8795. We are able to offer to you guys these bikes at only £7499

Cheers for the input Mark - will definitely ride one to see what I think before parting with my hard earned - but I think it will still waaaaaay outperform me, and I am also willing to give up some dynamic ablility just to have the chance to open my garage and see one sitting there!

hehe no need for me to make those front end changes, i'm never gonna ride it to the point of testing it thoroughly

I've been reading up on some of the z1000 boards and the addition of braided lines and better pads seems to be sufficient for the braking and I always planned on getting new cans, pc3 and k&n anyway.

but cheers for the advice
