Just a quick hello from a new member. My name is Dan and I am a bikeaholic. I've been riding for about 3 years and currently on bike number 9! Lot's of bad luck and a few crashes (not my fault either) have made this number larger than I woul have liked. So far I've owned 2 ZX-7R's a VFR 800 as well as 2 Zephyr 550's. I currently have an Zephyr for the hack to work every day. However......................I am off to the bike shop to place an order for a shiny new 2006 model this Saturday. Woohoo! The shop have offered me a 2005 model for a great price of £4'199 including 2 years servicing which I think is an amazing deal. What are the differences between the 05 and '06 models and do you think it's worth me forking out an extra £300 notes for the '06 model?

Also the firsy thing I want to do is slap a rather meaty sounding can on the bike, so suggestions are welcome. I want NOISE!

Nice to meet you all,

Dan

Hi,
I think the SV650S for 06 is different colour options, I'd save the cash and spend it on an Exhaust can

PS, Welcome

Hey,

As Jambo suggested, make the choice on colours more than anything, cos there's bugger all else to make the distinction.

Whereabouts in Hampshire are you from? Your biking history sounds very similar to a friend's brother's flatmate's, can't remember his name, though.

Welcome!

The only reason for the 06 is the new colours. They suck though so unless they pay you, I would get an '05.

Thanks guys.

Carsick:am from sunny Farnborough.

Will go with the 05 model then. Hmm, blue or yellow.........?

Remus cans do sound awesome, I had a remus grand prix on my viffer 800 which sounded like a Nascar. Well it did unitl some tw*t in an Omega pulled out and gave me the short wheelbase version. And boy did that hurt.

I'm so excited about getting the SV though, I just hope I don't get tempted by the 1000. Must.............be strong..........two cans...............mmmm. :D

Considering what you've had in the past, isn't the SV650S gonna be a bit 'tame' :?:

There's a lot of blue ones about you see? ;)

I have a very loud Hindle system. Make sure you take the snorkel out too for the induction noise

I would tend to agree. Unless there's some particular reason you're looking at the 650, I would seriously consider the 1000. I would have one now if I had the money.

I'm from Lymington, btw.

To be honest I really need to get the 650. I can't really afford a new 1000 plus as it will be my main form of transport I need it to be a little economical as I do roughly 1500 miles a month. I think the 650 will suit me fine for a year or two for my main transport and some knee down weekend action. Although I do miss my Ninja it was a bit thirsty riding to work every day.

Thanks for the info on the can. Looks like I will have to hold off on the can though as I've decided to get the full faired version of the SV. I just think it looks much better, plus it will help keep it clean as I'll be doing mostly commuting. How they can charge £500 for two bits of plastic is beyond me but hey ho! :)

Okay so my shiny new sv650s is ordered! WOOOHOOO!

I decided on the '05 model as it's £400 cheaper. The lower fairing is onlu £375 as well which means I still have enough to get a nice shiny LOUD Remus can too. Joy of joys!

I am happy man today. :D
