View Full Version : Braided Hoses (again)
Is it possible to shorten braided hoses yourself or are special tools required ?
The're HEL ones if that makes any difference ?

Send them back to HEL.
Send them back to HEL.
Already did that, with very specific instructions and specifications.
Even labled the inividual hoses with "Shorten me by 50mm" etc labels.
Also put in a very clear disclaimer saying I take full responsibility for any ill effects or damage that might be caused by shortening these hoses to my specifications.
HEL completly ignored all of this and shortened each hose by about 20mm, which in the case of the front hoses is still to long IMHO. I could fit some motocross forks and still not stretch them at full extension.

I can't be bothered to send them back to HEL again as this means bike is off the road for another week.
I returned my rear to be shortened (I decided just to put up with the extra length on the front, but the rear is so short it is impossible to loose much extra length witout it looking rediculous) but it is still longer than I requested :!: I'm convinced they have a policy of leaving the length "generous", as an error in the other direction will render it scrap, but I wish they wouldn't.
im having this cr*p with them too,i could wrap the rear line round the swing arm twice and it would still reach
To be fair there sending me another shorter one..........................again

I found the fronts to be too long as well, sent them back to HEL who shortened them. Why do they have such trouble getting the length right?
