I have read this article on LB.

Is it possible that Frith is going to be more tightly controlled?

We were approached by the local police about 7.30 and warned that his boss would be down there about 9ish with the traffic wardens. Seems that the residents have decided they have had enough of the noise and stunts.

Bang on 9pm they turned up and turfed everyone out.

Have to say, it was inevitable. Personally I think the late brigade are more the reasons than us. But don't matter either way.

Does that mean that we can now go find a new home, somewhere civilized like what the Selkent mob do :?:

This is the most interesting point:

However, the double yellows are not marked off, so they are invalid. They should have a perpendicular line at the end, which these Frith Street ones lack.

If there is a new home I'll need someone to guide me there.

It's the same as has happened previously. In a couple of weeks it'll all settle back down to normal.

this truely sucks, whats the chance of it being permanent and us having to find somewhere else to meet

Almost non-existent I think personally. There are simply too many bikes, it's become a tradition, and providing behaviour doesn't get truly outrageous I'm quite sure we'll be okay for a few years yet.

It will take a couple of weeks before it settles down though. Some of the Londonbikers crowd go up to Soho a few nights of the week.

However, if they do enforce it, maybe we should get some video evidence of the old bill stopping off for coffee ? What's good for one .....

I say ban it - then about 20 or 30 years later the council will back the idea of bringing it back. Sorry I came over all Ace Cafe for a moment!

No. We will not be intimidated by these unelected and officious scoundrels.

We shall defend our Soho meeting place, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender!

Meet at the Ace en route to Soho, fine. Stay at the Ace blubbering with fear of the Frith St peelers, certainly not!

Sadly, even tho its law they wont ever let you off a ticket because of this. The adjudictors attitude is "was the line clear enough to inform you that parking was restricted" For the fact that it was not legally correct you are supposed to take the local authority to court over it, but sadly they have the right to go ahead and fix the missing lines and avaoid the court action.

Another case of one rule for us and one for them.

similar thing happened to me and my mates when I was in Cardiff. We'd meet, park up and behave generally well. One local business owner didn't like it and complained to the Feds, who turned up and moved us on. Unfortunately the business owner wasn't best pleased when we started going round and round and round his place at 20mph, revvin the bikes. The old bill couldnt do nothin and we were asked nicely if we could park back up by said business owner

the reason is,

the friday before last, there was a police chase involving a gixer from a certian well known group, the rider was not caught. The police giving chase came within a foot of killing someone about to cross the street. I was there at around 10pm & witnessed it all, all the way up frith street the wrong way.

Ah, so then the police are going to be banned too? Result! (as if...)

The Police are cracking down as there has been rumours of my return to Frith Street and they are very scared.

What if we had Marshalls like at the Ace to keep an eye on things and liase with the Locals and the Law.

He/she could make sure all stunts and burnouts were done as loud and smoky as possible and arrange for any complainees to be dragged up Frith street at 70mph.

No, if they were doing more than 70 then the bystanders would not be able to reign blows upon them as they were dragged past. They must not be dragged close to the kerb either otherwise the police could enforce a red route

so what happened Friday night? business as usual, or were the Met's finest lying in wait?

I read something on the london bikers forum that the police/traffic wardens arrived later on and it all got a bit silly.
