Taking advantage of the fine weather in the East today went out for a couple of hours on the way back needed to fill up. So turned into the petrol station and came to a stop at the pump and on flicking down the sidestand went to get off, only problem is sidestand hadn't flicked down  resulting in a heap of rider and SV650
Did any one rush to help? did they bu&&er!! to busy laughing. I had to keep my Helmet on to hide the blushes.

PS R&G bung did what they're supposed too not a scratch on my beloved bike.

It's a long time since I did something daft like that, but I have.

And I'm sure I will again.

 not a cool look after all that noise and poise getting in. I read something on here i think about someone doing the same but getting a shoelace caught on a footpeg or something along these lines... hope the bike was ok - thanks for sharing

Couple of years ago I turned up at a bike club and as I was getting off, a guy parked up next to me on a brand spanking 600RR, got off, let go, and it fell over....

"Oh f*** I "forgot" to put the side stand down" He said...

BTW, this was my local IAM club.... Sometimes you have to wonder

Father in law (honest) stoped bt the side of the road but his side stand down, but didn't realise he was on a drain cover. Leant the bike over and it kept on going.

He was stuck for about half an hour till someone came along.

I couldn't tell you how many times I've had things like that happen to me...

One time was in High School, I was riding my 1972 Sportster (in 1994) and pulled into the local diner. While doing a low speed, sharp turn into the parking space the engine sputtered and stalled. With no power to pull me back up I went down. Luckily it was chilly out and everyone was inside and didn't see me 8)

A mate of mine drove his Super Tenerie into his foot in a petrol station. He had his foot lowered off the peg, and didnt notice how high and far out the pump island went.
So, as he swung in, his foot his the island, and the peg drove into the back of his stopped foot.

Luckily, he had proper boots on, and the bike was lifted, and swung out, but he got away with it...

Well i went out today as well, after another good days weather. Wrapped up warm, but fingers still got cold. Stopped for a girl on a crossing who then crossed over. I go to pull away but promptly stalled. Cue a quick restart and sharp exit from the scene! Put it down to having music playing through the autocom. Turned it off on the way back as i think its better for hitting the motorway miles.

Not done that in a petrol garage yet.... only a matter of time!

Done it on my driveway though.. stopped bike, put foot down.. arghh.. dead leg! bike and me in a heap on the ground.. engine was still running as I was falling over, so accidentaly revved the bits off it as I was falling over and trying to hit the kill switch  Luckily, that was with my SV over a year ago... think I'd cry and have a massive tantrum if it were with my Kwak now!

Have forgotten I've got a disc lock on twice now... thankfully dammage has been limited to embarasment

Done that once as well.. sadly on the Kwak  had disc lock on, but didnt bother putting reminder cable on.. so I forgot about it.. wheeled bike backwards out of garage.. crunch.. smash.. and watched as a bit of my front mud-guard shot accross the garage floor  Thank god for e-bay!

Though turned out to be more expensive in the end, as it may have also been the cause of that disc warping on me 2 months later

I'm paranoid about the Side Stand Spill, and a v.bright yellow disk-lock has prevented me from pulling away with that still connected.

However....and there had to be a 'however' a week or so ago, I got ready to leave home, but did all my preparation (remove cover, remove disk lock, attach tail pack, put lid and gloves on, etc.) in a different order to normal. Got on the bike, knocked it into gear, went to pull forward a few feet to get off the pavement and....BANG!

I thought.....nooooooo! I've snapped my chain. But of course not. I'd just tried to pull away taking the lamppost with me....forgetting to remove the v.large, v.heavy and v.obvious chain and padlock off the back wheel

The icing on the cake was that it was 8.50am, and I had a huge audience of parents taking their kids to the school down the road

I've no doubt some of those folks were the same ones who've seen me fall off my bike...twice...on the road opposite my house.

Sometimes, concealing your face behind a helmet is no bad thing!

Jo -> normally sensible, but ocassionally scarily dopey

I will not laugh.

I have parked at the pump, put the side stand down, and then dropped the bike on the otherside.
