A standard faired SV should be good for around 200 KPH.

165 KMH is only about 100 MPH - my SV1000 does nearly that in second gear!!!

220km/h.

It goes more than fast enough to seriously hurt a beginner if things go wrong.

Boast about the figures at the bar, but dont go testing them until you've ridden for a while

Why is yours jet powered?

True speed vs Indicated speed.

Hey,

226 km/h... But with me on it, it's like the SV drives itself at that speed.

Blimey. I used to get 130 out of my unfaired bandit 600. You sure it only does 135?

I was kind of expecting more top end than that. Not that it matters anyway as you can only do 70 on our roads. Ahem.

Like TSM said, true speed vs indicated speed. Bandit 6s are even more optimistic than SVs :) Though mine really does do 135mph true, without running out of puff 8)

I've had 246kph out of my bike. Wasn't towing a boat though!

and it's not an SV

Max ever for was 273kph before i decided to slow down. It was on SVs big brother on a clear 2am motorway.

Would not recomend doing it too often you may get caught.

Ok, silly question time. How do you know what your actual speed is if the speedo is a tad optimistic?

Measured using the stars and the radius of curvature of the Earth*

GPS, friendly policeman or more accurate speedo. I used a Veypor, and friendly policeman.
