I'm considering getting the Sv650s lowered. I think it lowers it about 20mm. Has anyone done this and does it affect handling at all?

I can't quite get both feet comfortably on the ground so need a little bit if help! Does anyone know how/where the height is reduced (i.e forks, rear shock or both).

Cheers!

Talk to 2 people here if no one else:
Samnooshka and Kate, They were pretty well tied for "Lowest SV on the forum" before someone decided to write Kate's off!

For a pointy certainly:
Seat can be made thinner
Longer Dog bones acn drop the rear
Forks can be dropped down the yokes by 2cm without a problem
Kate also has some taller bike boots that help out.

Get the seat lowered its much better you can take loads out and it makes the seat more comfy for long distances.
Its been done on mine... I'll be getting another seat done soon as I have 2 svs's.

Okay after speaking to the guy at the dealer he says he's not tsure the low seat conversion fits the K5. If it fit my mate's K4 I can't see a problem but hey what do I know. So........where do I buy the thinner seat from and can I get a thinner seat but the gel version?

My butt is still sore, but that's another story (vindaloo - don't ever try it).

Mines just had the foam cut out and then recovered... Just find a furniture reupholster if you not happy doing it yourself.

Hello! You can drop the forks as Jambo has suggested and you can put the preload on a lower setting too. I have no idea why longer dogbones won't fit on the K5, I'm sure Sam has the longer dogbones and she is on a K5.

I can definitely recommend the boots - they are excellent winter and summer boots and give you the extra height (I'm about 5'1" so you can imagine how much fun I've had lowering the sv). Daytona Ladystars they are called.

Daytona Ladystars they are called.

Luckily they don't say thins anywhere on them, and it's hardly like they come in pink, so on-one will know

seriously you can lower the SV by miles, how tall are you?

Hi Guys,

I have a K5 and have the lower seat, longer dogbones, dropped the preload, dropped the forks by 20mm i'm sure there's more but they're the main things i've done. I think i have the lowest sv now, she's a bit tiny

Sammy

ps: I'm 5ft exactly and can put both feet down now

tis easy to change the rear swing arm link bars and drop the forks through a little!

I'm 5'8 which is fine most of the time and I have had taller bikes (vfr). But I have to reverse the bike out of my garden and it's usually a little slippy so the lower height would just make it a little easier and not so scary as I've nearly dropped it twice. I think the lower seat should be enough as it will drop by 10mm. Thanks all for the info......Iw ill never by any boot called Ladystar, I just couldn't do it! :D

Different model, but puting a lower, narrower seat on my SV made a pretty big difference. I'm 5'10 so I didn't need the lowering, but it meant I could raise the rear :)
